The ones-who think ,the comments again these kind of shots come from a jealous hunters-can not be more wrong.
They just simply say openly the ethical vs non ethical.

I am wondering-and it would be good to know,why just about every thread title on this"long range success topic "bears a boasting comment/remark or qualifier word about Scorpyd crossbows.
Nothing against these crossbows ......

So where was your point of aim when you fired? There is a void between the spine and the top of the lungs that will cause a pierced animal without a killing shot. This is why the lungs/heart is the target area when using a bow.

Sorry dude, I understand pushing the envelope with a faster bow but that deer herd the shot, I am almost certain it was moving even if you are not, ethics are your own but you are not going to win many friends by bragging about a 90 yard spine shot on a deer.

I think this is comparable to pass shooting waterfowl or turkey at 100 yard with shotgun ...
I dont take such shots, but have seen ppl do it all the time, and with the amount of practice, they call it a calculated risk ... successful at times, and miss other times...
I guess you can lower the risk to acceptable levels [each individual can take different level of risk] by practice. but its still a risky shot.

I enjoyed the video though, whats your camera gear like ?

How long are we going to call this a lucky shot when I've been repeating my results season after season? How long are we going to call it unethical meanwhile all the deer I shoot are quickly dispatched and I have yet to wound a single deer in my 10 years of archery hunting? How long are we going to be outraged about what-if scenarios that clearly aren't happening? About the scorpyd remark, if I like a product and it performs well in a situation I'll be sure to point it out. It may not be the product you use, but I have the same right to appreciate it the same way others might appreciate their excalibur xbow without being accused of "being paid" like others have accused me of. And about the jealousy remark. I agree to a point. Most people honestly have the best intentions and they're coming from experience. But almost all criticism I experience off this forum is from rifle hunters that have little to no experience taking deer with archery. If I didn't fill a tag during rifle season and saw nothing but deer flicking their tails at me at 70 yards during archery season then who knows, I might be a bit bitter about some guy taking that shot.

i dont mean any disrespect but wondering. you went through a dry spell. were you seeing them?
if you werent seeing them as much and you've had alot of success in the past seasons, how many does did you take and was it off the same properties?

not trying to start fights just genuine curious as we took a couple does off our farm and im thinking it might be time to say lets only shoot bucks.

Thanks. The camera setup I use is called a dragon touch vista or something like that off Amazon. It's cheap but comes with a remote and is customizeable. Not the best quality but it helps me get my camera shots without spending $700 on a go-pro.

I take only bucks on my better private permission properties where I get mostly mature bucks. I might take an old dry doe every there and then but that is very few and far between. But when I'm hunting on highly pressured public land where opportunities on deer only come once if you're lucky then I take what I can get.

If you think a spine shot on a deer with a bow is a good shot, you still have a lot to learn about bow hunting.
If you think bragging about a 90 yard spine shot is going to get you a lot of respect, you still have a lot to learn about bow hunting.
I get it that you are an expert shot with this bow...but this was not a "good" shot, it was a very lucky shot - and your hunting record over the last 10 years doesn't change this.

I do have a lot of respect for you - particularly some of the insight you have shared on FB, but this thread is really out of your character - or at least what I thought was your character.

The Scorpyd stings another!!! :)
