1. This is an Ontario Out of Doors forum.
The main focus of the magazine, as well as the OFAH, is outdoor pursuits. Hunting, fishing etc. As should be the forum.
There are lots of other venues where a political opinion can be developed, published and debated. Having the off topic section tends to dilute that mission.
Assuming you subscribe to OOD, or others like Field and Stream, would you want the magazine delivered to your door with lots of other content? Car reviews? Op-ed pieces on abortion, etc?
2. We also need to remember these forums are public. This is not a closed club, or secret organization. At any given moment there are a ton of people visiting these forums. Our conduct, and published opinion is made available to the general public for review....warts and all. Do you feel that lots of the opinion and behaviour in the off-topic section is a good example of us as an outdoors community? Do you think it necessarily aides our ability to present outdoors people in a positive light?
Genuine ask.
