To be clear, you would like more government intervention in the economy? Is that a correct understanding of your comment?

We can call it whatever we prefer-fact is,the government does interfere in the economy left right and center!
Few examples :
Government does or does NOT allow certain economic activity(pipelines for example) : in a name of- Environmental protection(or so they say)
Government gives/gave out incentives by barrel for Solar energy generation : in a name of -Climate protection
Government did give away BILLIONS of dollars to GM and Ford, after 2008 : in a name of- Job protection.
So please let us know-why the Government CAN NOT interfere THIS TIME? : in a name of-Protecting Canadians?
I’m not against it. I happen to be in PEI right now and the Provincial government sets the minimum fuel price weekly. We have always had a mixed control economy that I can remember. China has a fully state controlled economy. I just find it curious is all. But there also those that seem to think that Biden and Trudeau get up every morning and set the price of fuel. Plays to their narrative. It’s wrong, but that’s doesn’t matter. So I just wanted to clarify that on fuel prices, you were arguing for more government/state intervention or control.
Thanx CT- i absolutely do not think them two set prices.
However-them being the SUPREME power in both countries, to decide what/when/why and how-they do not seems to do much, if anything ,to protect us.
Definitely we need more intervention.Now.
Just look at EU-sad site of Bureaucrats running a whole continent into the ground.
Even them "smart"ppl in the power start SLOWLY to realise(not from their good heart i would guess, but from "fear")that the Hydro energy is generated by using different means=fuel(nuclear/water/solar/wind /coal AND natural gas too). They now start to poke into this, stating it is UNFAIR practice from THEM big companies generating Hydro by other means then natural gas,to ride the wave and charge HIGH hydro prices because the price of N.gas is high.
Eventhough this economical condition does not apply to them.
Now-after several month of wakey-wakey,they are thinking to "separate"hydro prices from N gas prices(???!!!)to drive at least "other"hydro prices back to reality(or so they say)
Just an example of where a GOOD Government could have/should have intervened months ago.
I think you’ll find, as a whole, we are getting screwed over, once again, by our government.
The age old excuse that its a raw material that is traded on the international market and the price is completly predicated on that is incorrect and does not explain why we pay more for it as a producer.
