Was there today and nothing...no sight of any fish at Ontario Place...maybe in a week or so...
If you see a red Starcraft. Honk or say hi we'll talk.
Hi, Don't you need a special licence to fish the harbour or to get around Centre Island? Thought I've hear that before...
No special licience but the pike is out of season after the 31st. of march.
I looked it up, you need a harbour licence to cross.
Yup! If you are anywhere near the Toronto Islands in a boat, you will need a harbour license to do so. This isnt a brain fart test like the boaters exam either. This is perhaps what the boat exam should be! Personally I dont even think you are supposed to be launching from Ashbridge Bay without it. Not that it stops people, but if an OPP officer or Coast Gaurd boat stopped you without one, you will most likely recieve a fine. Having said that, the Toronto islands offer great fishing in the summer! Every peer, dock, rock, stump or weed edge hold fish! I have seen some HUGE bass come out of there.

You don't need to have a Toronto Harbour License to launch in Ashbridges Bay or the Humber Bay. You need one if or are: east of the Western Channel, north of the South Chanel or anywhere in between. I have been stopped numerous times by police and have never even been asked for a permit. Some police officers didn't even know what it was. The only things thery are concerned about are life jackets and if you have been drinking alcohol. None the less, it is the law and another cash grab for the government.
There are tons of large bass, pike and carp in the harbour area and amounst the islands.
Toronto Port Authority Website:
"All recreational boat operators who have engine-powered vessels, whether the engine is the main power or only auxiliary, must possess an operator’s permit from the Port Authority to navigate in the waters of the port and harbour of Toronto, which permit can be renewed annually. The Port Authority will arrange for testing and certification."
awesome ! Isnt it weedy as all hell by Ontario Place ? Those pike love them weeds. In the summer where can you legally fish from around that area without security putting a damper on things ?
