Faking dead coyote???!!!????

I hunted them with the same gang for 30 years, and we killed thousands of them we used hounds, and all of the hunters were farmers from the area, so we had no restrictions til cityets moved in. we used to carry 2 guns a shotgun and a rifle, at the beginning we used #2 shot for close range, but the motto was fire all three at him, even then some kept on going, in one instance i shot it five times before he died, then i switched to BB but still some got away, then i switched to #4 buck and i never had one make it. #4 buck 3 inch has 48 25 call pellets, i still use them on beaver and keep my pond clear, also we could shoot the coyotes at ranges of 50 yards and more, one guy shot one with a 10 gauge at 100 yards, this guy has shot them with a 270 130 grain at a kilometer. there is nothing beter to practice at shooting at long distance then coyote hunting. you learn how to lead and rely on you instinct, and your brain to make the adjustment for the range. john

Are you saying that this shot is not possible or that you yourself do not have the capabilities to pull it off therefore it is BS if somebody else claims to have actually seen it done.?Just askin.:thumbup:

i don't blame you for being skeptical, however to say it is BS, it shows your ignorance, because on til you try it you will never know.
the last moose i killed was beyond 700 yards, with a range finder, and i have killed many moose betwin 300 to 500 yards. and the fact that i did not lose any, it spics for it self. 338 wm. john
PS i have shot with my 2506 a fox at 500 yards. and i don't use scopes beyond 4 power. at long distans to stabelize a target with high power scope is just about impossible. please dont go shooting at animals at extreme ranges with out alot of practice.
you have to be proficient and confidant that you will hit your target. the old days the ground hogs were by the millions, the farmers would welcome you to shoot them. now you would be hard pressed to find a place to shoot at a long distance, i have fired thousands of rounds with my 2506 XTR,

I'm not gonna call BS on it. They guy who got me on to the 25 06 calibre often shot deer at 400 to 500 yrds, and coyotes as well. Now, obviously he's a remarkable shot, the rest of us can't do it, but he can! I think there was a thread with a vidoe on here last summer of a 1000 yrd shot on a coyote.

It is amazing how god you can shoot with practice on animals like ground hugs, and jacks. i started with a 22 coy it was set at 50 yards, and yet i could shoot jacks on the run and ground hugs beyond one hundred yards and there are old timers that can do this, the mindset today is to Analise things instead of doing, you will see what the best computer on the planet in your head can do.
ask your self how you can pick up a rock and try to hit something in a split second it weighs it and moved your arm to the right level for you to hit the target, or come close. this is prissily what happens with the gun, as you shoot the gun the brain gets better and better. try it with a empty gun, look at a target and bring up the gun while you are looking at your target, you will see you are dead on, this will teach you not to close your eye while shooting. i guess i should apologize , i am not saying a km shot is impossible but when you get to shooting at that kinda distance there has to be variables taken into the situation wind drift and bullet drop for sure come to mind , sure i may not be capable to take a shot of that distance myself rarely get the opportunity to shoot past 400 but with time and the space to shoot sure i wouldn't doubt it for one second.

Oldhunter could you help me out with some info on the shooters 270 , what length of barrel is on it standard length or longer , what type of optics does he run standard 3-9x40 or high power target scope , does he use standard off the shelf ammo or is it hand loaded ammo ? , i dont want to make this sound like a put down or attack just curious thats all just want to better understand the situation.

Well its happenned AGAIN.

Me and my hunting partner shot one, got to it, stood there talking for a good 5 minutes before we went out to get our snowmobile.
Got back at the yote to pick it up and it was gone. Followed tracks in the snow for half a kilometre and lost tracks.

We both noticed something, its had its eyes closed. Now we are starting to think that dead yotes have their eyes open, hence faking ones would have their eyes closed....

Crazy story!

Now I am curious on the tip "How to know when a coyote is dead-dead". Last thing I want to find out is that he is still alive when I go to hang him from a tree to skin it. I really don't want a live pissed off coyote's mouth close to my waste :(
