Our BP store in Calgary are filled with idiots. One guy told me the only shotgun to use on ducks and geese was a 10 gauge. He said a 20 gauge was way too small. I asked him how many years he was hunting, to which he had just got his hunting licence. Though the girl sales associates are a distraction. Your local shop is the best for hunting equipment, not a box store!!

Rack Hunter I mean you no disrespect, but like most I have tried a number of redhead items over the years from clothing to blinds to decs and they were all substandard products. But to each their own we are all entitled to our own opinions and we can all shop and spend our money where we wish on what we wish (I'll just be warmer and drier than you:):):))
I've only being the Vaughan BPS once since it opened....this new one won't make me want to go more. However, I can see the guys wanting to pop in when we're out that way for the Sportsman Shows in Carp, so I'll more than likely be there a few more time than before.
I really don't see the need to go specifically, they don't care any product lines that aren't carried elsewhere at comparable prices. I use a few different 'mom & pop' shops ( Bennett's Smith Falls/Gun Mart Brockville) for most of my stuff and will continue to do that. I rarely go into Ottawa to shop in general and I don't think I'm missing anything.
I understand you, it's our money so we'll spend it were we want. And I bought RedHead BoneDry stuff and they keep me warm and keep away the rain, but like you said we all have our opinion. And yes it would have been better if it was a Cabela's but I don't think Cabela's would of wanted to come in Ottawa because of the size.Quote:

I head to BPS about 6-8 times a year as the In laws live close by and it's my "break" I own a lot of redhead gear, (Mainly packs, and various clothing items) have not once, had an issue with any of it. Touch wood.Quote:

It will still be a two hour drive for me but I'm usually on my way by a few times a year anyway. Sail will compete with all the hunting and camping gear but I don't think they'll come close to the fishing lures and plastics theat bass pro carries. Every time I go to sail for my go to plastics all I see is empty shelves. Havent been back in a while.
Does Ottawa really need two (or 3 if you include LB's) big box hunting stores? I'm guessing the Bass Pro will go into another sprawl mall. Who is buying all this stuff? All you need to hunt is a gun, some shells/cartridges, good boots, a warm coat and a blaze orange hat and vest. To each their own.... but conspicuous consumption is the opposite of what hunting is about to me.
