I'm not sure what the connection is between being a weekend warrior and being lazy/using someone else's stand/not preparing for a hunt.

I mostly hunt on the weekends because I work 5 days a week and have young children to take care of. Believe me, that severely limits my time in the bush, but I still find some time to scout for locations, set up, maintain and take down 5 portable treestands every year, plus maintain several other permanent treestands. Maybe the guys causing the issues for the OP are actually retired old guys? :)

Some good input on how to keep them out of your stands, but that's all you can do. If you have "shared permission" to hunt the land I don't see any way to keep them out of your spots.

Now I don't know how big the property is but it's probably unreasonable to expect that one person can hang several stands in the best spots and expect to be able reserve the area. If they stay off of your stands and say put up a blind right underneath your stand I think there's nothing you can do.
It'd be like putting up an ice shack and expecting no one to fish nearby...

That's why people get exclusive permission.

You are right, I think the more applicable wording would be casual or fair weather hunter. I spend most of my time hunting weekends too due to school and work, I'm sure you have your hands full with kids I can't imagine trying to find the the time. My apologies!

I guess I'm another of those "weekend warriors". But I spend more time in my bush (almost every Saturday for April-Dec, a week in August + most of my time hunting) than any of my neighbors do that live there. I'm limited by a 5 day a week job, a wife and two daughters. I do make some long weekends - a 3 day weekend for turkey, a 4 day weekend for deer/bow, and two weeks for deer/rifle - but for the most part, I'm a weekend warrior - separated from the bush by a 2 hr drive.

Equating weekend hunters with laziness - well I guess I don't see the logic behind that - more of the same intelligence that brought us the word citiots.

I'm not genuinely offended by the posts I commented on - think the main point of those posts was more to do with hunters that are not dedicated or passionate about the sport rather than those that can only find the time to hunt on the weekend.

Anyways, Rugger does have a valid point about placing stands in all the best spots and then expecting other hunters who have permission to stay out of the area. There are only so many good spots to hunt, especially on a presumably smallish piece of private property. I use the removable steps primarily because I don't want my stuff stolen and I don't want others using or damaging my equipment.
Seems like the best option for the OP would be a climber stand.

Yup...that's the intent..a 'wannabe' hunter...doesn't do a stick of prep work and mooches off everyone elses efforts. Types of guys that hunt 1-2 weekends a year and then wear camo the rest of the year and call themselves a 'Hunter'.

So is it the fact they're using your stands or the fact they are hunting the same property....or not hunting "the spots", managing their hunt how you would?

Are your stand setups in all the best spots your way of licking all the donuts in the box?

Too funny, coincidental maybe.
I was hunting with a couple of buddies last night, one of them said he'd been deer hunting this property for about 7-8 years. Some new guy gets permission a couple of years ago and now has 3 or 4 stands in all the funnels and good spots and expects him to stay clear of them. My other buddy says he hunted this one spot for years, got his turkey in the same spot almost every year on opener, then new guy shows up and always parked his truck exactly where my buddy has taken his turkey every year. There's always two side to a story.
The fact your cameras don't go missing, shows a little character on their part. don't ya think?
Maybe they think the owner of the property doesn't want stands all over the place, who knows. Doing NOTHING to a property means just that, nothing.
You should talk with them if you have a problem, it might just be an eye opener for you.
