favourite piece of equipment?

So many things that in time you whittle down to what you really like...good boots, your rifle, vest, knife, fanny pack, gloves, etc.

The piece of equipment I use so often when dogging or bird hunting is my pin-on compass. Hands free, just take quite glance down and you know your direction.

I know it's not a piece of equipment, but i love hunting with a dog....particularly my dog!

I do a lot of colder weather bow hunting so I spent a little more on a warm browning hunting suit. The suit combined with thermacell foot warmers are my favourite equipment to keep me comfortable during those brisk mornings.

Blackberry. So I can maintain the façade of being at work, and take selfies of me in snowstorms wearing an orange hat.

My climber. Best money I've ever spent. This season I likely sat in 25 different trees that I've never been in. Being able to climb in different locations has been huge to keeping my fixed stand sites from getting burnt out.

I have so many good items to talk about but I am going to say my thermacell ,there is nothing that comes close to saving a hunt in late spring for turkeys or early fall hunts for bear and deer ,the thermacell just works and it works well .good boots and coats are a must ,a hat and gloves are also at the top of the cold weather gear .but to make or break a hunt the thermacell is it ,Dutch

First thought was shotgun, second was boots. Then considered most important versus favourite versus best. Alround, my waves are handy but for hunting (and for me that's primarily grouse) it's this:

I like lightweight hiking shoes and I wear Gaiters over them. I can not walk in heavy stiff boots.

Never seen a multitool with a choke wrench and gut hook. Who makes that and where did you buy IT?

Either amazon or ebay, I think it can be found on both, prices vary. It is branded Remington, for me the clincher is the snips.

Hands down my Filson upland hunting jacket and the many memories it bears from years of hunting and fishing . It's reoiled at the start of every season and has never left me wet or cold when worn with proper layers.
