Yup in my younger days I thought a good tug was a reward however now a days not so much guess I'm getting old.

Tug is a good game/reward. The not playing tug (because it makes the dog aggressive, or whatever) is a myth.

Anyone who knows anything about Susan Garrett and her training, accomplishments and her brand knows she is one of the worlds best ( we're not talking hunting/field here folks obviously) when it comes to competitive dog sports like agility, obedience etc. - she's top notch in her areas of expertise, though many of her applications can be applied to household average pets and hunting conpanions for building a strong bond and developing a team ( not tug related, but watch het videos on youtube, old and new).

You wouldn't believe the number of bad dog trainers out there ( ha - both professionally and rgular pet owners). So much potential in some dogs and yet trainer just plain sucks, LOL. I see it all the time at our dog club. And so many dogs with 'drive' and placed with the wrong owner, too much dog and not enough owner.

My dog loves cheese.

I should add Mapleviszla enlightened me as well. I had no idea she was so well regarded.

Susan Garrett has forgot more about dog training than most people on this forum know. Her field of choice is agility and she has won the worlds on several occasions and has represented Canada on the world stage. To be a good trainer you need to be open to listen to others not only in the dog field but other animals such as horses. You never stop learning. It is easy to come on a forum and claim knowledge I don't know to many trainers of field dogs who have not corrected their dogs in a harsh manner at one point in their training career myself included. There is way worse going on , on a regular basis. What is implied in the video is the trainer does not have the knowledge to properly train a high powered dog. The owner wants a fire breather but when they get one they realize they do not know what to do or how to handle the dog. which leads to bad dog trainers. I would love to spend some time with Susan to see her outlook of the field training She only live a mile from me I should go knock on her door.
