Abduallah is saying because Mohammad's application was denied, he decided to flee to Greece instead. So, did he speculated that because Mohammad did not have his application approved, he would stand no chance, and decided to go another route?
I feel sorry for the guy, and I do believe the world needs to get better with humanitarian aid, but I'm not sure it's even feasible for our government to investigate cases like this to this degree. There has to be a process or chaos will erupt, and then things just get worse for everyone including the migrants. It is upsetting that things are so bad in Syria that he thought he had no choice but to flea, but I can't see how Canada can be blamed for that.
One thing I read is that they didn't have enough money to pay for life jackets, which would have made a huge difference (kids could have survived). What are the illegal migrant ships charging for life jackets?? They paid something like a few thousand euro for the trip. A life jacket costs $30 over here, probably could get them for $10 or less for humanitarian issues like this. I know this is too late, but the point is all these decisions are not in Canada's control, and although I hate what I'm seeing, I don't think it's right to put all this on Canada.
