Stinky baits will carry the message farther ,more of an attrackment,but if they eat it so what. I've been feeding with moose scraps since Oct.1 and their loving it . They are going nacturnal now but real early to really late. Some areas had bad berry crops so the Bears in your area may still be hungry.
In general, yes. Give it a go but dont get your hopes up. Ive had bears hitting steady until about 10 days ago. Nothing in 7 days now. This is in WMU 49 (Parry Sound district)Quote:

One or two days is really pushing it IMO. But still... why not? Depends how much you want this. IMO you need to pound the spot with scent big time. I'm a big believer in sweet scents. Best advice I could give is to get 5 bottles of the cheap $2.50 500 ml bottles of vanilla and a spray bottle. From your stand walk at least a hundred yards in each direction perpendicular to the prevailing winds and use 2 bottles in each direction as you spray tree trunks along your path. Then use the whole last bottle at the bait site. Essentially you end up with a 2-300 yd long wall of scent, which can only increase your chances of early discovery of your bait. If you want to jazz it up even more, buy a $5 1oz bottle of anise oil and add some of that to each spray bottle. I don't know how much coin you're willing to put into this.
All this being said, if the wind is wrong your chances are way less anyway, and you might be best to not hunt and spook it that evening, but if time is that limited then I guess just hope for favorable local fluctuations. Either way, good luck with it all.

Just got back 46 wmu baited for 3 day no bears must be too late weather was rainy used molasses dog food mixed with melted marshmallows sardines and sweet jelly only thing hit bait was wolves.
A deer hunter in camp watched a bear eating his deer bait yesterday.
