A number of years ago , one Sunday as we were having brunch a van with 4 occupants 2 men and 2 women all well dressed pulled into our driveway and the driver opened his window and threw out his cigarette butt onto my lawn.
I went out and picked up that cigarette butt and threw it into the van saying " I do not want your garbage one my lawn" gave them all a real mean look , stood there for a moment they did not respond as I think they were dumbfounded by my actions, and I went back into the house as they then backed out .

My property and I don't want any ones garbage on it just as I don't dump my garbage around on others property.

Really most of the locals are just as bad, espeacially around the fishing access spots, plus the day hunters who leave their garbage everywhere.

I've always believed northerners were the worse trash dumpers on the planet. One only has to look at abandoned lumber camps from the turn of the last century. Garbage dumps, equipment, derelict vehicles still litter those areas. That practice must have been handed down father to son as throughout the north you'll see vehicles dumped from all decades. Even tourist camps had their own dumpsites but now they're expected to bring it out.

Its also my experience that hunters are the worst of the crowd. Derelict travel trailers, plastic shelters, tossed coffee cups and beer cans, you name it. It all shows up after the hunt.
When it comes down to north vs south, I'm always amazed at how clean in comparison it seems as I drive through southern Ontario.

Following a trucker, he threw out a huge bottle of yellow liquid into the ditch along the highway. Guy pulled into a parking lot. I told him he should be ashamed of himself. Then realized he didn't understand what I was saying.

Local school picks up garbage each spring along the highway here.

Spent a week south of Timmins driving through the logging roads and atv trails. No end to garbage. Everywhere we walked, looked, stopped and drove we saw empty beer cans, pop bottles, etc. Its not a country vs, city thing. Its our culture. Its what parents teach their kids. I'll stand behind these words too.
I learned from a very young age to never litter. If I did I was sent back by mom or dad to pick it up. If I refused I got smacked. Todays generation has this sense of entitlement and lack of respect for authority. Its only going to get worse.

Listen stilchen67, go to the simcoe forests and see what country folk dump in them!

Visit the one across from tits and look at the mattresses dumped there, or farm equipment parts in Baxter, or other garbage piles in simcoe forests. Your probably one of those guys that dump your large trash items in the forest because your small town will charge you to take those items away. Who from the city would drive all the way to the country to dump their trash, pumpkins, and other yard waste. Not someone from the city, as it would get picked up from the curb every week. How about the other country morons that race their atvs and motocross bikes in County forests where it is no allowed?

This is what amazes me. Our house is situated adjacent to a soccer field/softball field, track complex which backs onto a local elementary school. Each spring the school kids get a day off to clean up litter. These are the very same kids I see tossing that crap that they're picking up.
So much for the school curriculum including an earth day or green topic sinking in.

Could be but mostly grown ups driving the highways. Bottles of yellow liquid thrown from vehicles are from travellers through our area!! Kids clean it up!!

Go to any abandoned mine site and look under the piles of rock and you will find garbage. The government and local jurisdiction that charge to dump garbage are also partly to blame.
