Delta Waterfowl is alerting its members to recently introduced animal cruelty legislation in Canada, Bill C-246. Delta Waterfowl has serious concerns over the legislation’s potential impact on hunting.

Bill C-246, the “Modernizing Animal Protections Act,” was introduced Feb. 26 into the House of Commons as a law to ban importation of shark fins. However, the proposed legislation also would change important legal language regarding treatment of all animals. The Bill does not specifically exempt accepted practices associated with hunting, fishing and trapping. Further, it doesn’t provide protection for ranchers and other uses of animals.

“This is a bad piece of legislation,” states Jim Fisher, Delta Waterfowl’s director of conservation policy. “The definitions of animal cruelty in C-246 are so broad that hunters, anglers, ranchers and others could be prosecuted for their normal activities. We can’t stand by and watch this attack on hunting, fishing, animal agriculture and other legitimate animal use.”

Delta Waterfowl is asking our members to contact their Members of Parliament and express their concerns over C-246.

They did NOT drink Kool-aid. The correct drink/brand was called fresh aid. A cheaper knock off brand, and the media messed it up by saying kool-aid.

Since the Liberals only received 32% of the popular vote, it's was far less than a majority....and a large percentage of them only voted "anything but Harper", never understanding the damage they were doing by voting Liberal.

I think there has been a lot of 'buyer's remorse'....so not to many believing in "Sunny Ways" anymore.

Actually the shiny poney is still riding high in the polls and would still win a majority today. Which proves that maybe PET was right and that voters are stupid?

Polls ??? ...they have been so drastically wrong, so many times, the only people who cite favourable Liberal pools are the CBC :)

Even JT stood in the house and applauded the superior leadership of Rona Ambrose yesterday..:)
