Off topic: have you all noticed trees dying lately?

Hey Gilroy - it just so happens that there were a lot more hurricanes years ago - in 2015 there were 4 - in 2005 there were 15 and in 1995 there were 11 - so using that information to say that things are getting bad because of global warming doesn't hold water - another thought - what is wrong with the planet getting warmer - you can grow more fruits and vegetables in places where you couldn't - you don't have to use so much energy to keep warm - nature will adapt to the warming climate like it has always done - so next time someone brings up global warming just say that it is a good thing - according to Al Gore New York city should be 6 feet under water by now - the guy made a lot of money spreading his BS - don't fall for it -

It could be a variety of reasons besides disease or insects. Doing a survey of the bush and surrounding area along with what possible changes to the landscape can cause die off. I have seen this happen a few times over the years when tile drain was installed in a farmers field that was naturally wet. The tree's adjacent started to die off as a result of the moisture that was now being diverted to the ditch. Which brings me to the other possibility. New roads, drainage ditches a change in the elevation,soil acidity changes can create this issue as well and have seen this type of tree loss. You would be surprised what seems as a minor change to the landscape can eventually cause this to happen. I was heavily involved in subdivision planning many years ago after graduating from college as a horticulturist. Part of my job was to survey potential subdivision sites to determine how the native tree's could be saved due to the above mentioned.

R.I don,t need Al Gore to say anything the link I gave you says it all. Its really hard to believe your in America and cannot see what is happening in your Country and I don,t mean just Trump.

Have a look at the back of your Bible to find out what will happen to the planet,its right there in black and white.As for America, the hand of God is already on you guys and its not going to be pleasant.IMHO

I've been "in the bush" most of my life. I can't say I see anything that alarms me. Sure the ash are taking a pounding right now, but pretty well all species have some kind of bug or fungus that attacks them. And if trees get into a weakened condition because of ordinary things like ice storms, extra-dry or soggy summers, then the plagues seem to have a field day.

Things get blown out of proportion nowadays and invariably are attributed to, and therefore support, the great AGW/Climate Change/Extreme Weather narrative that is enriching so few at the expense of so many.

If you are selective and careful with your data ranges your statistics can be quite scary ..... reminds me of the 3 types of lies.... lies, dam* lies and statistics.... :-)

During the decade 1951-1960, 9 major hurricanes struck the United States. That is above the 100-year average.

During the decade 1941-1950, 11 major hurricanes struck the United States. That is substantially above the 100-year average.

During the decade 1931-1940, 8 major hurricanes struck the United States. That is above the 100-year average.

During the decade 1921-1930, 6 major hurricanes struck the United States. That is slightly below the 100-year average.

During the decade 1911-1920, 8 major hurricanes struck the United States. That is above the 100-year average.

Global warming alarmists and mechanical engineers at obscure Minnesota universities may lie, but the objective data do not lie. During the past 5 decades, an average of 5.6 major hurricanes struck the United States. During the preceding 5 decades, and average of 8.4 major hurricanes struck the United States.





If all the money spent on MANMADE Global warming was spent on relocation, protection and environmental improvement there would he a difference made but that work takes time and doesn't get researchers grants and public money ..... I'm still trying to figure out how to do a 10 year study of the effect of MANMADE Global warming on the goose/turkey and deer hunting seasons across North America funded. I figure a small grant of $5M should do and for $250,000 I should be able to hire someone to look at my 10 year successes and write a report ..... :shades: :shades: :joker:


As for fossil fuels.... Canada is tiny compared to many other countries both in producing and using, blame Harper and ignore reality as usual it seems, all while ignoring real issues Justlied is creating.

We aren't under a glacier and some experts have said the "manmade" global warming is delaying the next ice age so they are doing studies, going to Paris and writing papers instead of adapting and making real changes it seems to me.

What really makes me laugh, is that "experts" who can't ever get a 10-day forecast right want us to trust their predictions about what the global weather will be fifty or a hundred years from now.

The entire AGW/Climate Change/Extreme Weather story has been so utterly compromised by the likes of Michael Mann, the University of East Anglia, All Gore, Suzuki, and a host of other book-cookers and hypocrites that I have come to the conclusion that only a fool would accept the narrative without serious reservation.

We've had a pair of years that saw some very definite extremes.

2016 was one of the driest on record. It put a lot of trees under stress. 2017 was one of the wettest. Extreme ends of both spectrums are going to cause many trees that are living in less than ideal conditions to be lost.

My cottage is on a river, where we're currently looking at the entire river valley, and wondering how much deadfall we're going to see in the next few years ( most of the valley was brown by mid-Sept).
