New year's day 4 years ago. Took 8 hours to get up this hill. 24 to 30 inches on the trail and machine has 15 inches clearance.

Where are the tire chains. and second if you have a bucket for clearing snow why did you not just "plow" the road?Quote:

The machine has 4WD, ag tires and locking differentials so chains are only needed for pushing/pulling on icy surfaces. Number of times in the last 10 years I have needed them is zero so not worth it. They would not have made any difference as the problem was the frame getting hung up and floating. 4 tires in the air and chains are irrelevant. As for plowing that is a gravel bucket designed to pick material up and move it to another location. Plows wing snow they don't carry snow. That bucket can sorta plow if the snow is fluffy and not too deep. It can also clear snow if you have room to turn and somewhere to dump. Even if I could have loaded and transported bucket loads of snow one at a time without tipping there is nowhere to put them as the bush is tight to the side of the trail for most of the way. Other factor is that is not a road with a relatively flat travel surface. It is a long, steep, narrow, winding trail with an uneven rocky surface that climbs out of a river valley. You can see in the top pic that the back hoe boom is canted off to one side. This is because I just came out of a section where I had to turn the boom 90 degrees to the machine and partially extend it to one side to prevent the machine from tipping. The top pic also shows the top of the trail where things are starting to open up and level off.Quote:

I was once showing a driver one of the videos and they got the camera truck bogged. As we watched them work on pulling and winching it out, questions about the price of all the gear costs came up. Then he asked why spend that kind of money when you can just call AAA( American), I think having half the lunch counter laughing at him did not make him happy.;)
