I find out whats for dinner when I get there, as for knowing where my family are, they are capable of looking out for themselves, if there is a problem that,s where the phone comes in handy.
There are many times when I am speaking to someone perhaps business related, they immediately ask for my cell phone number, my reply , sometimes I tell them that I do not have a cell phone or I tell them that my cell phone is for my personal use, call me on our land line or send the info by mail.
Same as our computer , it is for our personal use, and we do not give out our email address,s to every one that asks.
People are addicted to cell phones and most now days just cannot live without them, as they deem themselves very important, it really pizzzes me off to no end when at lunch they have to get the darn things out and speak into them very loud so the whole restaurant can hear them and see how important they are !!!!!
That and people still having them up to their ear while driving!!!

Not talking them down here, just saying it's too much money for me to change plans and have it on my phone.

You're right, my home internet is fast and unlimited so my bill for home internet makes up for what I don't spend on the phone.

For our internet, I pay $45.20 mnthly. for 50 GB, of which the most we have used in one month is 17.62GB according to records from our provider which are available at the click of the mouse.

Not to highjack the thread but has anyone found a solution to a landline. My cell phone signal is intermittent in the country so I can't just kill the landline. Bell charges me $60 for a Bell Light package......Light alright.... I'm missing $60 a month that's why it's light. My landline in town cost me around $28 four years ago. I hear Bell offers cheaper landline packages but I can't get the Loyalty dept to admit that.

I did some google searching and i found a great deal.
Almost 50% less.

If you have cell signal at home look at Koodo wireless home phone.
Got this for my mother $5 per month unlimited talking Canada wide.
You need to purchase the receiver from them about $30 i think.
Works off cell tower.

Have to checked into Wilson Cell boosters, they have auto and home devices that are quite amazing. I use one at the camp on the shores of G Bay where there is almost no signal without it. When going up to bird camp about 40 km off the highway northeast of Eldee I can still text and call the wife.

Boy I guess I have it good compared to some of you. I don't have a cell phone, never felt the need to have one. My wife has one for her business use. I'm in the country but luckily my neighbour two doors down is a satellite nerd with a 100ft tower on his property. He supplies internet to a number of homes in the neighbourhood. Right now for $25/mo I get wireless unlimited 4.5Mb down and 1.7 upload which does me just fine. I can download movies etc at 500KB which is ok by me. Come spring he has some new radios with higher bandwidth and he will run fiber along the back fence line and then up to the house which will be super fast in comparison. I got rid of my bell landline two years ago (save $60/mo) and now use a OOMA voip phone which costs me 4.50/mo. It works great, free long distance in Canada and I haven't had a spam call since. I also use PIA vpn at a cost of $70 for 2 years.
The only cost I'd like to reduce is my Bell TV, but come spring with the new fiber and increased bandwidth I will seriously consider going to an android box so long as I can still get live sports. Right now wifey just hooked up a Roku stick to her tv that is working not bad but does get a tad slow at night sometimes.

I pay about $95 for 10gig data, unlimited text calling with bell. Although I had $285 over data charge last month, not sure what from either lol
