Is anyone reminded of the gas plant scandal and subsequently the Liberal controlled “enquiry” that determined just who could be called and what questions could be asked?

What gets “my goat” and I’ve called some friends on it. The left side of the electorate like to talk the talk, but won’t walk it.

Many howl everyday, about everything Trump or Ford. While sometimes there is merit.

They can’t grasp why we get Trumps/Fords in office in the first place...and they refuse to walk the talk..

From now, until the election this fall. Every time any of my left leaning friends say boo about Ford.

I’m going to link this cesspool of corruption that make makes Harper/Duffy or anything else seem trivial, and say.

“Don’t like Ford”?
Then walk the talk, vote them ( The Liberals) out, and don’t set the table for them (the TrumpsFords of the world) to win.

And now the Puppetmaster has resigned......I dare say that something stinks in Ottawa

If she's really smart ... she joins the Conservatives, and then launches an incriminating attack within 1 month of the elections. That would be marvelous.

Everything they are saying is bullsh#t. There's so many Canadian companies that can pick up ANY and ALL work that SNC has or may get. I'd rather see an ethical mid-size company grow, than have our tax dollars go to a company that is proven to be corrupt.

It's insane, really. They are corrupt, it's proven, it's not even the point of discussion, even Trudope knows that. But he's doing this so the government can continue to work with them.

So really he is saying that he doesn't mind the government working with corrupt companies. That is huge. And it's not just an ideology. If the government wins some contract with a foreign entity, and has SNC as a sub ... that could compromise the whole deal, assuming that foreign entity has standards and won't accept SNC. Sure, they can exclude SNC from that bid ... but if the government basically lowered the entire standard and makes it possible for them to work with corrupt companies, there is NO quality control then, and foreign companies have no guarantees. They are tarnishing everything.

What’s old is new again. Before corruption of foreign officials became illegal in Canada in the late 1990s, Liberal governments blessed bribes that facilitated exports. After the Harper Conservatives came to power in 2006, the tide turned against corruption, with companies such as SNC-Lavalin being prosecuted, much to the chagrin of Liberals. Now the Liberals are back in power, and thanks to their recent introduction of Deferred Prosecution Agreements (DPAs), corruption has made a comeback.

Not so the Trudeau government, which replaced the Conservatives in November 2015 and almost immediately — on Dec. 10 that same year — signed an administrative agreement allowing SNC-Lavalin to continue to win contracts despite the charges pending against it. In 2018, the Trudeau government announced plans to amend the Integrity Regime (formerly known as the Integrity Framework) by giving the federal government “greater flexibility in debarment decisions,” thus politicizing it and effectively gutting the process.

Combined with the Liberals’ passing of legislation in 2018 allowing DPAs, also known as remediation agreements — legislation that deems “the public interest” a prime criterion for whether a prosecution should proceed — Canada has now come full circle, with prosecution of corporate crimes to be determined largely through lobbying and political considerations, rather than strictly through the rule of law. So polls say that Atlantic Canada still provide 50% support to the Liberals, Ontario offers 32% support to the Liberals (mostly from Toronto). Seriously people?!?!? So everyone is okay supporting a government that is okay with corruption?????? We have lost our ways. This is a line that should NOT be crossed.

The same reasons they said that Harper and the Conservatives needed to leave are the same things that are now over the heads of the Liberals but the core supporters on both sides will never care. Campaign for the fence sitters, looking to your base is stupid in all cases, they will not change their vote no matter what, those floating are the ones that matter and there is an open door here for the Conservatives but history has shown that they are better than the Liberals at shooting themselves in the foot.

I can tell you, this easily trumps any corrupt thing that Steve Harper had to deal with. Allowing corrupt companies to work with the government is a little more serious than someone who tried to get the tax payer to pay for chewing gum.

Many will tell you that this is, unfortunately, how construction is routinely done in Quebec and especially in Montreal.

Consider the resulting over-payment for construction services, plus the $13 billion that Quebec receives in equalization payments, and their provincially funded $7/day healthcare and you’ll start to get an idea of the resentment that many Canadians hold for La Belle Province.

Picture the exasperation of someone in Alberta hearing Denis Coderre (former federal Liberal, and recent/current mayor of Montreal) proclaim that “dirty Alberta oil” should never travel east through a pipeline across Quebec. As Alberta sends money their way.

I wonder how any politician can ever make it right.

As history has shown, Atlantic Canada is a silent voter base. Those that do poll, are newer voters ( like Liberals), so no surprise that it's saying 50% for them.....

.....of course they've had such a crummy Winter down there it might be another month before Seamus cleans the ice off the dish enough to get the news channel again......and two months before they start finding Decembers newpapers in the drive..... :)

Just wait for all the promises that will be made before the election.
