This is another reason I have issues with dogs running free, I understand off leash but I mean no checks and balances by the owner, which in a lot of cases farm dogs are.
I have watched farm dogs running deer and rabbits and killing game animals the same as coyotes but I have also seen the after effects of a dog getting caught in a snare and being really lucky his foot got through too and not just his neck. I warned the guy that his dog will get himself killed, if not by the coyote packs but by the traps, cars, trucks or some guy shooting at something that he did not identify (tall brown dog about the size of a fawn).
It makes me sick to think that someone would go out and shoot the family pet, it really does, this is why when we get a dog it will not be free ranging, too many predators out there.
