Yes, but you still have to wear hunter orange for small game hunting during a shotgun or muzzle loader hunt as well.
You also have to consider how far a bullet can still be deadly. Remember your hunters course, a 22LR is deadly for a long way, think about a guy with remington accutips of a spitzer muzzle loader bullet in a sabot. Then do the wrong thing and shoot at a deer that is silhouetted against the sky, where is that bullet coming down? Is that more or less dangerous than hunting in a rifle zone?
It seems that a lot more of the accidents ( yes I know nothing is an accident) are the result of something like a miss and the whole or pieces the bullet ricocheting . Sky line shots are not safe is something every hunter has ingrained, but thinking if your back stop could cause a ricochet is important too.
Hunter Orange should be a traditional color of EVERY outdoor sport. Just think how easy it would be to see other skiers or for search and rescue to see you.
snowwalker, couldn't agree more, can't believe how many people I see ice fishing with white on. How they never need help while out there. I wear red or orange. I wear orange when rabbit, pheasant squirrel hunting. Basically for everything other than turkey or bow.
Its a shotgun hunt here. Deer season ends and we break out the coyote guns.
.22 250s, .243s and .270s blasting across country lol
Just make sure no 30-30s or .303s as they are super dangerous I guess since theres a .270 rule lol
Know where your shooting, you wont have a problem.
I will wear an orange hat when coyote hunting, I definitely wouldn't wear it goose hunting. I put orange out in fields where I dont want them to land LOL

I personally prefer to squirrel with a shotgun because if I use a 22LR I’m limited to when the squirrel is on the ground. In a tree they tend to run to the other side and either way I don’t want to take the chance.
On that note: WTF can’t you hunt raccoons at night with a shotgun!?! It’s really dumb of the MNR to limit it to 22LR since you have to have a licensed dog and the dog trees the raccoon and then you are shooting a rifle in the air!!!
I really wish they would update the regs to allow shotgun. Hell even limit you to carrying birdshot only!
