I purchased a Weathetby Vanguard V2 in 6.5x55 3 years ago.
In case you didnt know, the Vanguard is a Howa manufactured under Weatherbys name
It is by far the most accurate masd produced rifle i have ever owned or shot. I do handload, which definately enhances acuuracy, but ill let the photo do the talking
6.5x55 Swede, 2700-2715fps at muzzle, 5 shot group at 100yds

Unrelated to the OP - but the 270 thumps the shoulder harder than a 308 and as hard as the 30-06. Its even worse in the light Tikka's.Quote:

Don't buy into everything you read. Look at ballistics of both cartridges, the 6.5 is far from an upgrade of the 270..lol. Seems the 6.5cm is pretty much a re branded 260 remington...Quote:

Recoil of a 270 is low, sure the 6.5 is lower because it's a lower velocity cartridge. That's about all it beats it in. Would like to see this same article vs the 270 using a fast 150g sst or high bc bullit. Not bashing it at all, but I don't see anything great about it, that would make me choose it over a 260 rem or swede6.5

I don't know why you are calling the 6.5CM a low velocity cartridge, the 270 Win shoots a 145gr bullet at 2970fps and the 6.5CM a 143gr bullet at 2700fps, not really that different, the 6.5CM is not a low velocity round.
