Well, I can only guess ... but yes, it implies more people than who are tested show up, are screened, lots rejected, and then only a subset tested. But I don't know where 9000 tests a day comes from ... I heard that is our theoretical capacity, but I also heard at one point they were only doing around 1400 a day because of certain constraints (limited supplies, etc). Was there an announcement confirming they are testing 9000 a day?Quote:

Simple, depending on the LHIN, and the Public Health service, they set up "testing centers" designed to bring you in, administer the swab under optimal conditions, then send that swab away to the lab to be tested. All hospitals are set up for testing, and many municipalities have mobile testing as well, where a PRU unit with Paramedics will simply drive out and administer the swab, and send it off as well.
Testing times? Totally dependent on risk tolerance. Someone presenting symptoms, who has been socially distancing, and not exposing others, low risk. Health care professional, who not only works in the blast furnace right now, but presents a real issue should they be sidelined, high risk, and gets a priority.
My fiancee worked in a paramedic team on Sat, by end of shift Sat night, her partner was feverish....so got swabbed, results back by 2100 Sunday night.
Remember, most labs have been re-tasked to give Covid-19 testing a priority. The only thing being done other than it is testing for other urgent health issues. With all non urgent procedures etc being put on the back burner, this has freed up some of those resources.
As far as the peak?
It depends. Typically it will consider peaked when no new cases are identified, or when the number of new cases per day starts to decline. Yes, ironically this also goes hand in hand with testing, and that particular lag. However, for example in Renfrew County...no new cases identified today, if that trend continues, then yes, it is considered to have "peaked".

Pinecrest in Bobcaygeon blew up big. Some believe a daughter went to see her parent in early/mid March. But the biggest problem is the lack of PSWs. Many are contract, and they usually work at more than 1 establishment, sometimes 3. Most figure that’s how/why it’s spreading in them. All it takes is 1 asymptomatic PSW and 2 or 3 LTCs are done. Ripe breeding grounds.
My Aunt who is positive is at Eatonville, she’s 83. Last I checked there were 30+ deaths there. All I know is she’s still inside. So no, most are not being transferred. I don’t know what protocols they have in place for containment inside them.
Can tell you, my daughter was is a medical facility. They discharged someone on March 23rd. Who tested positive. My guess is authorities traced that person back. I think it was the 26th. The ward she was in went into to total lockdown/quarantine. She was locked in her room for 23 hours a day. There’s stuff I won’t relay but suffice to say, it wasn’t good. Nor was trying to get her to understand she was in the safest place she could be. Totally locked away from the world. We eventually got her out but it wasn’t easy, and by the time we got her out, it had spread inside. So most likely the staff. Nor was finding a place she could go, where there weren’t other high risk people. Her 14 days is just ending.
My cousins mother is I’m assuming in the same predicament my daughter was. Locked in a room, knowing she’s likely slowly dieing. Worse than drowning imo.

Ya, I know, I was thinking about that after I wrote it...... I guess, ideally if everyone in the world got tested at the same time but that`s not a reality.... Still find it hard to believe that there are more than 9,000 people wanting or should I say needing to be tested everyday (Monday to Sunday).... Sounds like a lot of sick people out there....Quote:

My fiancé’s BIL. Same deal. If the kids were Negative they could have gone to stay with grandparents. Instead while dad was locked in a spare room. They were still in the house. And he does have to eat at some point.
I imagine though, the biggest benefit is identifying the asymptomatic people. So instead of continuing to work and spreading it to 5-10-20..
OK thanks for that info ... based on what I read there ... it seems that the +9000 tests was due to a backlog ... see it ramped down to 5500 outstanding? It was taking 2 to 3 days to get a result ... so for sure there was a backlog which they may have now cleared or at least reduced to 24h. That means the capacity is +9000 per day, but I don't think that many people are on average being actually tested each day. Sounds like 5000 is probably a better estimate (although we can only guess unless we see the daily average in the next say 1 to 2 weeks, to get a view in an unconstrained environment).Quote:
