They work really well and are easy to make. I use 4” PVC, but you can go bigger or smaller. You can also make a double chute with a “Y”. The pipe comes in 10’ lengths, so I make 2 5-footers at a time. I think it works out to $30/feeder. If you decide to make them, think about the ends on the fittings (male/female) so that you buy the right ones. One end of the 10’ pipe will be flared so you have to account for that when fitting a cap. Each feeder consists of a cap, pipe, 90 elbow, and 45 elbow. I drill 1/4” holes at the bottom so rain water can drip out. I use metal strapping to fasten to the tree. FYI, if you use good feed, it won’t take long for the critters to empty it,
