coyotes tend to be quiet until october and then really make a sound until february and march. i had a pack right behind the barn a while ago and every once in a while they pass thru. people are crazy to think they will manage to control the population in southern ontario. but you can deter a local pack
I take all that back, the last 4 nights have been nothing but coyotes howling. I think it is like Fox told me, that MikePal tracks them on a 2 week cycle of hunt routes. It was so bad, they woke the wife and I out of sleep..with me smiling...lol

At the old camp I stopped walking in to my stand before I could see, I wanted to be loaded on the walk in. That is what happens when you can smell a wolf or a bear (dead animal stink) while sitting in the pitch black with your back against a tree.Quote:

lol, I always say there is more wild life int he city limits than there is where I hunt! you would be amazed with the night life around the city. I used to work night and you would see deer, yotes, foxes everything you see in the country.
I remember one night on Lakeshore in Mississauga, about 3 am I see this deer stroll out in front of my truck slowly with no concern and slowly cross the road and stop in the park to my right about 20 yards away. I thought it would be fun to see what it would do if I got out of the truck and walk in the park. It payed no attention to me and and kept looking at me and the street then I see a yote cross the road sneakily and zig zag around the park trying to flank the deer. It was a lot of fun but the deer knew I wasn't the one to worry about LOL. it walked away and I don't know who won the hide and seek game but it was a fun experience. Neither one of the wild life was worried about me.
