That's it exactly..but the sad fact is, the Village Idiot doesn't care about the safety of Canadians, all he cares about is ; will it get him votes.

See CTV has published a partial list:
Quote:
The ban includes guns that have been used in past Canadian shootings, including:
the M16
M4
the AR10
the AR15
the CZ scorpian EVO3
the Ruger Mini-14 which was used in the Ecole Polytechnique massacre in Montreal in 1989;
the M14 semi-automatic which was used in the 2014 Moncton shooting;
the Beretta CX4 Storm which was used in the Dawson College shooting; and
the CSA-VZ-58 which the gunman attempted to use in the Quebec Mosque shooting.
the Pistolet Sig Sauer Sig MCX
Robinson XCR
I seen that list or the short list. I’m going to try trade my 10/22 sks mini 14 .223 for a .50 Cal BMG that won’t be on the list :)
Remember when we used to lock up mentally ill people in asylums and we didn’t have problems with mass shootings? Those were the days....
The only two that I do not agree with are the M-16 and the M-4. Both of these were designed for military & police use only and were not available to civilians to purchase in Canada. They might as well list illegal guns as well. The AR-15 is the semi automatic version that was available to the public with a restricted license. I'm surprised the Trevor and the Swiss Arms are not on the list.
M-16 had two modes - semi auto and fully auto (big no, no in Canada)
M-4 was the replacement for the M-16 and had a semi auto mode and a 3 round burst mode (again big no, no in Canada)
I hope Billy Blair has a big fat cheque book cuz he will need it.......
Has anyone actually seen how this so-called buy back will be paid out? Somehow,I'm having trouble envisioning a government hack writing a cheque to each owner turning in a firearm. Finance people I've been talking to are of the opinion that it will be in the form of a non-refundable tax credit. That way,no funds actually change hands and the government will never need to pay out the full amount to each owner in cash.
Yea I think this is Bill Blair's way of saving face. He knows the truth but is still required to do the task he was hired for. This is a mediocre compromise.
edit add: Not too thrilled that additions to the list will be done thru 'Order of Council' and not require Legislation
I have 3 of them!! If they are not paying cash for them they will be getting the receiver only and they can shove their buy back program. Everything else (bolt, trigger group, barrel, & sights) are not restricted and can be bought by anyone with a non-restricted license so I will be keeping them.
