So are you telling me that before the white man arrived the indigenous people of North America were living in utopia? Maybe they had the perfect society.......no wars, no slavery, no killing, no starvation, and no hostility amongst themselves? If you even remotely believe any of that maybe it is you that do not know your history, or maybe you watch too much TV?.
Natives have been fighting against themselves since time began. In the area of Hamilton before colonization there were natives called the Neutrals (because they were neutral between the Iroquois and the Huron) that were all but obliterated by the Iroquois. They killed men women and children and mass graves so large that they still exist to this day as hills in the lower city. Natives took slaves as battle trophies, took wives of their fallen enemy, they fought with each other and killed, raped and looted entire villages. So when the white man arrived they were fought and lost that war. Yes, the natives helped the British win decisive battles in the Rebellion of 1812 and some were rewarded with land and fortune (Joseph Brant, Tecumseh to name a few), and treated the natives much better than the Americans did.
........so I would say that racism and segregation was alive and well long before colonization.
