I used to drive up to North Bay on weekends as a younger man to visit the university, I drove an 88 Chevy pickup 2wd with $20 used tires through some of the worst conditions I've seen. Guess who the ones upside down in the ditch were? Or in the median up against the rocks. Always the fancy SUV that ripped past 10 minutes earlier.
I think a lot of people are unable to "feel" the road and that's why we have all of these computerized features to correct their faults. In reality it's more like a participation trophy that gives them false confidence.
