We need to remember that the SIU aren't policemen, they're lawyers and retired OPP upper command with excellent, demonstrable investigative skills who certainly know bullshyte when they hear it. I believe that there's a lot more going on we know nothing about. If it all turns out to be a case of an operation based on scurilous unverified data, woe betide everyone involved.
This is correct for RCMP but officers working for an Ontario force are not considered police officers outside of the province. Should the need arise to work outside of our boundaries Ontario police officers need the approval of the province in which they will be operating. Similarly, out-of-province police officers need approval from Ontario if they are going to operate here.
