Using a Handgun on Private Property

back then , it was a "privilege" granted by the then Attorney General " Kelso Roberts , who himself was an avid "hand gun shooter " , it was never law just a privilege to be able to hunt with a handgun as long as you had a "valid " carrying permit and hunting license .
i still have somewhere in my files , a copy of the original letter from him to our club stating such . and i shot quite a few groundhogs with my ruger superblackhawk in "44 mag" .
but unfortunately as in a lot of things , this privilege was rescinded, the good times are gone .

Anyone else remember Pierre Idiot Trudeau, Alan Rockhead and Kim Can'tbel (she is best remembered for those buzzers under the dash of your cars)??? People were still upset over Dief cancelling the Arrow so the Libs stepped in and took over.
Trudeau is the one who declared "marshal law" here in Canada in the early 70's. His people also changed the rules so gunlaw changes could be made by an "order in council" instead of taking every little change to parliament. This then allowed them to declare which guns would be restricted and prohibited....We tried, but were assured that "it can't happen here".
I actually remember a speech that the Conservatives gave where they warned us that if the libs got elected we would soon be paying over $1/gallon for gas....:sad:

Lets see with Libs we get a nanny state, not right to protect yourself, criminals have more rights, lost handguns, now loosing our long arms.

I have a bad gut feeling that in 10 ,15 ,20 year's , or however long it takes ; this whole discussion will be the same ,only substitute long -gun ,for handgun. I am very concerned about what the "New Canada " is becoming.

After the gun registry was killed, the NDP are now thinking of bringing forth a bill to ban semi-auto's. This pass year several pro-gun registry guys on here said that would never happaned. I would like to see thoes fellows come back and explain why it is now happening.

When I was a kid in school we all used to stand up every morning and sing a song called "Oh Canada". Anyone expressing those views now is called "politically incorrect" or worse....
( they have even changed the words to the original song)

We also use to sing O'Canada and God Save The Queen when I was in School in the early 70's but it ended in the late 80's. First we stop singing God Save the Queen around Grade 5 and the O'Canada stopped in High School.

My son goes to Catholic School I guess the still sing O'Canada

Man, those were the days!!!!!! I imagine the girls were out to bingo!!!

We can all sit around and lament "the good old days" and let whatever freedoms we have left slip away. Or we can get up off our cans and DO SOMETHING. I suggest everyone quit crying and stop being cheap when it comes to our rights and join the Canadian Shooting Sports Association AND the National Firearms Association. Join at least one of these for crying out loud. I have been a loyal OFAH member for about 18 years and I think Greg Farrant and the gang did a great job during the Bill C-391 campaign, but the OFAH has many issues to deal with and CSSA and the NFA are about guns, guns, guns. They are working really hard to loosen restrictions on firearms and licencing and need our support. Check their websites out. Do a bit of research. Decide which one seems better suited to you or if you will join both. Then join one/both and SUPPORT them with your time and or cash. Personally, I have just received pamhlets and membership forms from both orgs which I will be placing in the local gunshops this weekend, if the shops are receptive. Yes, each organization is aware that I am placing both of their material out there.

Also, write letters to the editor. Write your MPs. Bill C-391 was a shot of adrenaline for the firearms community. We came so close to repealing the registry, which is only the beginning of realizing sensible and fair firearms legistlation in Canada. This will be a huge issue in the next Federal election. We need to have a huge voice and we need to keep the current momentum rolling. We need to act NOW.

IF C-391 (well actually Mark Holland's motion) was voted on today it would be a different outcome, as Fantino (PC) has replaced bevilacqua (Lib) in Vaughn...a 22 year stronghold for the Liberals.
