AWESOME IDEA only wish the MNR had this kind of fore thought, you want future anglers and hunters bring them into any aspect you can. I know most guys don't want to pay more but if we could pay the same or a dollar or two more, it would be great to put some kids art on the cards and maybe turn out a scholarship program for these kids. Its a thought....FB
Any thoughts?
I think most people would be impressed if they saw the kids artwork that win. The artwork is displayed at the Toronto sportsman show in the MNR/parks both area - take a minute and have a look when at the show this Feb.
"The Wife" great rundown on the costs that could be involved if not done as a contest. great posts ... FB
Granted we don't look at the card very often , but when I do I don't like what I see.
Here is the response that I received from the MNR . After I sent an email to Service Ontario ( who sent me the card and asked that any inquiries be sent to them ) of course pass the buck.
Question is how many of you asked for the card be changed because you couldn't read it ? Not me
And just how much did it save ? How does john Q public find out.

Just want to say that the new outdoors card is the ugliest thing I've ever seen.
Reply Request: Yes
From the MNR
Thank you for your email.
The image on the Outdoors Card has been removed to enhance the visibility of the information on the card. This new appearance of Outdoors Card is much easier to read due to the high contrasting colours. Previously anglers, hunters and enforcement officers had difficulty reading the information on the Outdoors Card and requested a clearer appearance and design to support the primary purpose of the card as a legislated information document.
Additionally, there were significant costs associated with running card art competitions and printing artwork on the card. The cost savings to the province resulting from the decision to change the appearance of the card supports the 2012 Ontario Budget deficit elimination plan and will allow the MNR to focus funding on higher priority initiatives, such as invasive species monitoring and enforcement.
Thank you for taking the time to write.

Our CO's have vision impairment and the new card is cheaper ? I'll go with the later !!
I actually like the way the new card looks !:)
Why the ongoing magnetic strip then?
"Additionally, there were significant costs associated with running card art competitions...."
Like gas plant cancellation significant? Or e-Health? Ornge? How about all those Grocery Store Gift Cards?
If the gal behind the counter at Service Ontario drew me a picture in crayon on a piece of scrap paper and it then allowed me to hunt and fish the bounty on this great province, I'd be proud to carry it in my wallet.
Wow, I read that e-mail and seen politics all over it, the first paragraph is the lead in story. The second paragraph is feel good information to show they care. What F***ing hogwash. Clearly a crafted response by communication PR staff. Save money..haha..stop spending that will save money...dorks...sorry morning rant on 1/2 coffee down range.
