Buying in United States

I'm not 100% sure but back before the 1990's it was OK to buy the ammo and the US didn't care. I think things only changed after
9 11

True. The incidence of US Customs stopping vehicles exiting the US is rare. Probably rarer still would be involving BATF agents.

While not a lawyer ( I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night)...I would say that if it's a first time thing, and as a Canadian citizen you didn't know the applicable laws, then it might result in a simple forfeiture of the firearms parts / ammo. But then again.....do you want to take the chance?

You probably don't want to take the risk for a minimal money savings. If caught, you most likely will be arrested or fined.

No ammo exporting under ITAR either. Customs Canada doesn't care, US Customs or DHS does.

The ammo is the same price as up here

With the dollar at 90 cents and falling now you're not going to save much anyways. Support your local shop:thumbup:

He was buying boxes of 12 Gauge down there when they were on sale. Game loads were about $2 a box cheaper. Not a whole lot in the context of what was at stake, which is why he doesn't buy them anymore. He is however bringing back a Daisy Red Ryder for my son this year, since you can find them on sale down there for $19.99 sometimes.

Older "snowbirds" have been found to be transporting firearms from the US to Canada to supplement their income. Both sides are looking closely at this, so don't be thinking that age might give them an easier pass if caught!
