That takes some stones. I hunted the Cheepash from canoes with buddies one October, but it was tiny comparatively. Great pics!!

When finding this report here a couple days ago I knew that I wanted to savour every bit of it. A Sunday morning read with a coffee, by trips end with you guys I just wanted to say thanks. Thanks for the journey across the skeg to my old home.
Some excellent walleye guys, it wasn't surprising you caught the bulk of your fish before meeting the Moose River. From the train bridge down there can be some great spots at the time of year you traveled, but it's fished and netted along there pretty hard, and as you know, it's a BIG (but shallow and dirty) river with trickier walleye fishing than most would think.
Thunderhouse, Hell's Gate... only places I've buzzed over in a bush plane. A best friend lives right on the riverbank in Mattice and he wants to do this trip sometime with me, I don't know though... it looks awesome, but this trip is for workhorses. Long straight stretches of river where you can see for miles and just go stroke over stroke over stroke. Those portages would be grueling with the bugs when you went too. You two guys rocked. The blackflies along the clay banks are so thick and unlike anything I've experienced anywhere, and this year in the Moose it was more terrible for bugs than usual. Was up for a week in June myself.
The belly shot was painful dood!
You for sure caught fallfish. Biggest member of the minnow family in Ontario, so surprised you said this bait tasted great. I ate one once too, but a fish from the Mississippi in the Ottawa valley, it was terrible. You northerners are a weird breed... but the nicest of people live across the 11. ;) Fallfish are most easily taken just at the bottom of swifts in August and September, backsides of sandy islands in the spring. Small spinner or just a hook and shot, tossed over the side of the boat and left to dangle in the current and voila... fallfish after fallfish. Ontario record breaking fish surely swim in those river. No question.
Hope you two are planning your next trip together already and booking the time off for work. Early season on the Wekwayowkastic to North French to Moose might be something that interests you. Late May.
Thanks for the report.
