She does. Camo'd Grumman on a galvanized trailer with a 15 Merc. That's what caused our falling out in the first place. She owes me a bit over $200 for repairs on it.

yes. three times. in our group regardless of who shoots or doesn't we all shared meat. we had one guy who shot a doe and said he missed we found out by trail cam that he went back later to find him pulling it out at noght to not have to share. another guy who had a tendency to shoot deer and not bother looking for them after tracking 150 yards... and one other guy for never paying bills oon time or helping in any way.

that's tough. we got a few old timers who rent comin back to the woods this year as well.

Yeah .yeah .yeah some of you pups kick the ol lads out because they have a disease that you think makes it unsafe . I still dog with one that is over 80 yet was diagnosed over 10 years ago . Shame on you young priicks calling them out like that . I wouldn't allow you to walk in my shadow or theirs . They can still be a valued member in any camp and maybe still a good one . . Bet they gut clean and you young clowns pass out eh . ?

In some cases, I might agree. But if it's posing a danger to themselves and others by handling a gun, then IMO, it's justified. There are camps like mine that have a limited # of beds, and spots. If you can accommodate a loyal member, and have them assist by dogging, or being camp cook, then absolutely allow them to continue to contribute.

The camp I belong to has a group of older gentlemen come up the 1st week, and my group up in week 2. We're slowly overlapping them, as the week 1 group doesn't actually go out and sit the watches very much anymore.

I agree that the older lads should still be part of the hunt as long as their health allows. The week at the camp is not just about what you can kill, it is about the old stories, card games and just keeping the fires going, so many of these fellows have a hard time giving this up.

I absolutely agree. As long as their overall health is good and their not in the advanced stages of Ahlziemer's,every accommodation should be made to ensure they're still valued members and their contributions are welcomed and appreciated. Simply ensure that firearms and ammo are secure. When the time comes for them to formally "retire",they'll know and they'll let you know,too. Respect for their venerable status should demand it. Just my 2 cents....

In extreme cases I can see having to "ask" and old timer to hang it up but I would never have the balloons to "tell" them they are done. Without the old guys we would know nothing. Who teaches us to hunt and fish? In our camp the old guys come first. We will work extra hard at building them blinds and cutting a full road into said blind if we must all to try and help these guys get a deer. You never know when a which deer will be their last. Dont forget those old guys that are our parents could have left us as no more than a damp sock. Who are we to tell them what to do.

Considering the mature guys in our camp are the ones who own all the land and accommodations, asking one of them to quit would be a direct and immediate safety hazard........
