Online Crown Land Topo Websites

Guys who want to bash each other... take it to off-topic. Keep it over there with the political bashing. It does *almost* no good here... someone could figure out the true worth of someone's advice, but that person would have to be around for years and follow every single user name to really know. Personally, I can't be bothered to track all the user names and individual comments they have made over the months and years.

As for the question on crown land maps... Unless I'm missing something, I haven't found "crown land maps" and "topo maps" in the same tool. The "Crown Land Use Policy Atlas" is essentially complete... although I've personally come upon gated access to mine claims, marked private property that doesn't appear greyed out, and road closure signs in areas with policies listing access.

NRCAN puts out the Atlas of Canada, with online access to the Toporama topographical maps... which can be downloaded in various formats for personal use.

Some guys here use this tool... Gmap4 mapping tool... combines multiple map sources, lets you bounce between satellite, street map, multiple topo maps...

Hunting ethics are subjective and very personal to each hunter. Imagine these two situations:
(1) Fishermccann heads into that section of Crown land after the other hunter has set up and begun hunting for the year.
(2) Fishermccann heads into that section of Crown land LONG BEFORE the season, cuts some shooting lanes, sets up a treestand, and is there long before daylight on opening morning.

Is Fishermccann being ethical in both situations? More ethical in one than the other?

My personal thoughts: Situation 1 demonstrates unethical hunting behaviour. Situation 2 does not, at least not to the same degree. Just because someone has hunted an area for the last several years does not grant them exclusive access to that Crown land in perpetuity. There has to be some element of "first come, first served", given the limited availability of Crown land.

I guess maybe in Southern Ontario crown is limited. But as soon as you leave there is lot's even around Ottawa there is lot's and much more in less then a 2 hour drive. Head towards Pembrook, Arnpiror etc land is almost limitedless. So there really isn't a reason to overlap.

Yeah, I'm originally from northern Ontario where we never have this problem, unless it's a 5 year old forest cut that gets flooded with moose hunters. It can be really frustrating to find unused Crown land here in parts of southern Ontario.

Wondering if I can get some help/clarification on online map, thearea's I’m looking at is off highway 36 near Bobcaygeon it’s coming up as P26Provincial Park Natural Environment and G343 General Use area. My question ison the Backroads Mapbook Bancroft Crownland map these area’s show as crown landso if I was to scout/hunt in both area which one would be the one to choose???.The online map is ok but I find it can be confusing.:confused:

this is the best way to find new place to hunt.....
it takes some getting used to but there are areas out there but things get busy when season is on so i would say have a back up plane or area ....

I have been using Garmin basecamp, ibycus topo and looking land layout with google earth
