We had it once at a dog sled race that they may show up. The race committee got together to discuss possible scenarios and appointed a spokesperson just in case they did show up. They never did but have heard other dog venues having them show up.

Attention!!!
After recieving a phone call from an officer with th ministry of natural resources we will no longer be having the contest for most coyotes killed we will only be doing a contest for the biggest coyote killed.
Sorry for an confusion we do not know the reasoning behind this.
no problem.............just keep getting a bigger one,,,,,,,,,,,same contest,,,,
Its called damage control. If the MNR was to allow a contest for most coyotes there would be a risk that some left-wing group would complain and then of course it becomes political. So by telling you that you can't hold a 'most coyote shot' contest they are keeping the Minister from having to speak.
There is no rule that says you can't, they are just using the powers (which are too vast and too open to interpretation) to make sure the contest does not come onto the radar of the media.
This is in interesting read on the subject...

If it were only about coyotes might have acted - but you can hardly ban coyote hunt contests without banning big buck contests. And I don't think the MNR is prepared for the negative response that that would generate. Fishing tournaments would be next to go too. The MNR saw the start of the slippery slope here and decided they didn't want to go there.

As I stated, this is political and has nothing to do with the law. If I were running the contest I would have a copy of this letter and I would be rubbing their noses in it. Since 2011 there have been no changes in the FWCA.
