I do understand that Kicking Frog. hence why I didn't say anything, for the first while but then the usual (searches for right words/phrases) the "other side" started, lets call them the denyers/head in the sanders.
Im mostly "centrist" with an emphasis on fiscal responsibility. Social programs, good PS, etc it cost $$, lots of it. If we want caviar well we need to take of the $ and economy first..Just my rudimentary description of my political leanings..
It drives me nuts that some can't seem to see or grasp what it's costing people, real people. Or take G (FM) latest.Yeah Gord, vote buying is a long history.
Name me one party, federal or provincial that has driven things into the ground in the process.
Name me one party who did so during a severe economic downturn.
Name me one party with as many scandals or brainfarts (GEA) also adding to it?
Just one G in 100 years….
Its one thing to say throw money at Quebec buying votes there when times are good. Its quite another when times are tough and the peons paying your Pension are getting laid off in droves, or seeing 1.5% (if anything) and they are throwing 13.5% at the OPP, obscene payouts just two weeks ago for Hydro One, Teachers and more buying their Unions for their political clout and support.
blah blah blah blah.
Maybe when you care about more than just yourself or the GTA, you'll see what these years of Liberal Rule have done, are doing. And whats coming. You'll care about all the downgrades and what they mean.
You'll care about companies folding, or refusing to come here (many well publicized)
Maybe you might even think about many people ending up in your old place of employment because
Hyrdo is exploding as are taxes and fees (why is that?)
They don't have Pensions, nor enough saved (Then again when you pay more to taxes paying for everything else like vote buying, and brain farts, and everything else….than you do housing and food) trying to find a couple nickels to save..
Just a couple statistical facts

Couldn't be conservatives in the bow! Here's why: If they were conservatives they would have thrown the bailers/workers overboard just as they throw them under the bus when on land!!!
Give it up Jben, your only wasting your time typing all these long replies, most of which is bang on. There are a few on this forum that are very obviously far more "INTELLIGENT" than most of us knuckle dragging neanderthals. We are not intelligent enough, like the chosen few to understand how well off we and our province are.We "simple common folk" cannot see and understand how well this province has been run and will continue to be run for a few more years at least. We do not have the blind faith, the incompetent mindset, the follow your leader over the cliff syndrome that one must posess to be one of the "INTELLIGENT" ones. We are just plain, ordinary, dumb common sense people. Thank god for that, AMEN.
Lol, now that's a little humour I can appreciate :)
Heres a quasi serious question for anyone reading. I am a centrist, at time's more L than C. To me, theres a time and place for everything. But as I said, even as a "closest" wee Liberal with "social" concerns I do understand that if we want to be socially responsible and have good social programs, good PS be it healthcare, education other. Well that cost money, and the simple hard fact of the matter is that these days no Liberal (Federal and certainly not here in Ontario) seems to understand is that the
better off, the middle class and private is the more "money" there is for governance and programs and "ps" etc. The dog (private, economy) wags the tail. Not the other way around.
So having said that. If we could somehow magically look at Ontario, all the various factors, things whatever, that have brought to us where we are today, but without any "political connection" would anyone say those in control have done anything remotely well or good?
For all the talk about championing social things (typically left ideology) and the middle class, and we are being the same boat.
The truth is they are anything but. And I can honestly say no party in my memory has done as much damage as they. I used to say that of Bob Rae, never imagined a day when another would do more.
I am very big certain issues, in part because of my line of work. Take Ms Wynnes oh so wonderful ( read the dripping sarcasm here) ORRP. Yeah Kathleen, yeah Liberals it's true
The peons of Ontario are in desperate need for their futures, "retirements", thats very true . What makes me laugh with the sad ironic humour is most don't take to time to understand why. Most don't understand, your regime is largely responsible. Its proven statistical facts that the middle class is shrinking, everyones quality of life is going down. The trends are clear since the 1960s.
G I know where you are this week and good for you getting to watch that. You beat the game of life.
You do understand for the bulk of people thats just a pipe dream. Why does Ms Wynne feel needs to bring in her own Pension Plan for the peons of Ontario?
Why?
Well see……………………statistical trends since the 60s…….people losing more to taxation than they spend on housing/food…..see what it takes to retire and oh so very much.
Forest for the trees imo.
How about a lack of good union jobs. When I was getting out of school in the 70,s it was everyone's goal not going on to uni. to get a union job so you could be middle class. I grew up in a blue -collar neighbourhood. I believe that Mulroney and free trade agreements killed those good jobs. We are one of the few countries in the world that do not need anything outside our borders to survive, but lots of the world needs what we have.
Different Era G, different times.
Understand what it is your suggesting (re we can be self sufficient/reliant) but in truth we can't. We are so tightly interwoven these days (finances, economies) globally…
Imo the "trades" are the future. Look around at kids today spending 10s of thousands of dollars on useless pedigree's only to come out of Uni and not find work in related fields or realize they are "unhappy" in that field…….Again back to Boomers, its projected there will be many shortages in the trades (makes sense because 40-50 years ago or the 60s-70s)………
Without getting into debates about Unions and whether or not they are dinosaurs ( I believe they are). Basically whether "unionized" or not without the jobs, without the companies aka (private) creating the need/demand/growth………..
And what has this admin done for the past 8 years?
jack squat, their sole focus has been buying their wins at levels that are unprecedented…..In the end they and the Unions have only shot themselves in the foot and they killing "the middle class".
I won't argue, different C governances have done damage or this/that.
Theres a time/place for everything. Look around globally these past 8 years, and really 5-10-15 years down the road.
The dog wags the tail so to speak.
Interesting to see posters identify themselves as reactionaries after my post!:) You folks took my post faar too seriously. If you were fish you'd go for the bait every time!! Gotta go now---there are a couple of other pots that need stirring before they boil over!!:p
I also remember a time you would buy Canadian because it was better made and anything from J.A.Pan was cheaper because it was crap and would not last. Everything made in Japan is made from material from somewhere else in the world. We have the resources , manpower, knowledge to make whatever we need right here. Very few countries can say that. I would rather have, Simpsons and Eatons than Walmart.
