OUCH!
Earlier I reported we got 2 bull tags for archery. One guy told us he had a bull tag but when he read the tag finally it was for a calf. Since we only bow hunt the early season it really is just plastic toilet paper printed in the US which is worth shyte and won't even wipe shyte!
We really ended up with ONE bull for 6 guys! There is NO WAY we can legally party hunt with 6 guys. Also there is no way we're all spending $1200 each for 2 weeks and 5 of us might be done after the first day. for what? 70 lbs of meat!
I get does that big here at home and have 3 deer tags.
We could play the all day phone in lottery for some cow tags BUT we won't shoot cows.
SOOO... we're throwing our lone bull tag in the garbage PHUCK IT! and going to Quebec.
I'd love to give it back to the MNR to pass on to someone else BUT they won't do that because that would make sense.
One of the guys in the group bought a great cottage in Quebec this spring. Lodging is free and it's half the distance. Even with the high tag fee overall it will be cheaper for us! It's a no brainer! 3 tags over the counter. No more prepaid moose lottery for us. The odds are better at the CASINO!
It's going to be painful calling the lodge owner in Ontario to cancel! They are friends and will miss our friendship and the $5,000 we left there every year. Another casualty MNR policy. Maybe all the MNR policy makers will chip in some of their fat salary or their even fatter pension and send it to the northern resort owners. 27 yrs huntin moose and now I need to leave my own province and go elsewhere.
Worked all my life and finally retired and the only way to chase my dreams is go elsewhere. Thanks MNR ..PS you won't be getting a Christmas card this year from me!
I f I were you and felt as you do, I would write this all down and more in a letter to the Min. of Nat Resources, explaining also of the loss of license money because of others going to Quebec also.
Bull tag for 28 for our gang
Although I feel your pain I know quiet a few gangs of six that would be very happy with one Bull tag. I hope things turn around in a few years or I might head to Quebec as well.
In Quebec, is it true that once your tag is used on a moose your done, no party hunting and that one hunter cannot shoot more than one moose?
Thanks skull! you're the best BUT I'll still be bear hunting until the 16th (or longer) then we're heading to Quebec for archery. Getting together this week to hash out the plans.
Going right into the unknown. 6 of us. three tags right over the counter on a super fishing lake. Cottage is on an island and the accommodations are free!
Moose are moose no matter where you go. Our group has bow killed 47 and I've gotten 11 so I know we have the skill factor . Just need to figure out the terrain and find the moose.
When you're given lemons you need to make lemonade!
