Combination Guns, does anyone on here use them for actually hunting?

So, mine is almost where I want it to be. I have cleaned up the wood, repointed the checkering, stripped and rust blued the barrels that had worn bluing. I even acquired a Krieghoff .22 insert for it. I just finished fitting it and sighting it in yesterday. Very happy so far.

Top patterns no scope, full is left, mod is right. 20 yards. Bottom patterns were with scope.

The only thing it needs for it to be perfect, is another 1 1/4" in the length of pull. Some shrimpkin cut it down. I can shoot 5 stand with a slip-on pad, no problem, but it looks cheesy. I am pleased and excited about this gun. I think its going deer hunting this fall.

Good luck with that, it should do great! Are you reserving one barrel for grouse or rabbits?

As for combo bug.... well let's say I am pest ridden and swatter short :silly: :moose:

"Swatters" I am short of starts at time, then places to shoot, then money ....... I am always curious about various innovations and models and how people are using them. For instance when we went to Paris years ago I made sure I got to the Museum of Hunting and Nature and there were varieties I had never imagined, inlaid with ivory etc and even probably 6 of the 1800's hunting air rifles.

I couldn't find some of the really odd ones like a flintlock with 4 receivers (for lack of a better word) and the barrel rotated... sympathetic fire must have been a bugger if it happened!

I hunt often with my Isodoro Rizzini combi 12ga/30-06. Carry it for deer, bear and all winter for hares. It is one of my favourite guns. I hunt in WMU 46, 47, 49

I have been watching Tradeex Canada for a nice 12 / 222 Rem. There were a couple nice ones earlier this year but I waited too long and they sold.

the 12x6.5 would have been nice while hunting northern ontario...

I tried like hell to get that rifle barrel into use on a deer up North, but it didn't happen this year...

I opted to keep two barrels loaded with buckshot for close-up work and leave the 7x65R for anything else. I was hoping for a grouse or two and had the .22 insert ready, but the weather did not cooperate. Have to keep trying I guess.
