I believe in self defence. Killing someone breaking into my car I don't think is justified.

This verdict,in particular, sets a precedent that needs to be closely examined. This was a property crime, not a personal security issue. I'm a little incredulous with the reaction of First Nations claiming "racism" led to the suspects demise. I think they're way out of line with this one.
Get out of jail free? It must not be working because % wise they are the most incarcerated people in Canada.
Then, wouldn't you think that sooner rather than later, they'd smarten up? The fact the deceased was First Nations is absolutely irrelevant. A crook is a crook in the middle of the night. Drawing attention to that fact is bullshyte, but, then again,it's the Toronto Star and The CBC,isn't it?
People are not born as criminals. Something is wrong with the system when a high % of any particular group end up in jail.
Granted that the system is in shambles, but, giving a free pass for criminal activity and special rights as a separate society is definitely NOT the answer. That's the main reason the system is a mess. We've done nothing with "Indian Affairs" except uselessly throwing good money after bad, sowing the seeds of jealousy and hate. We need to completely alter the politically correct "groupthink" because,so far,it's an unmitigated disaster.
So, back on the topic of the thread, I read that the charges were dropped because the injury was caused by a ricochet. I find this odd. The fact that a firearm was discharged and an injury resulted would constitute at the very least, careless use of a firearm.... there must be more to this story.....
