Cow and calves

I just got back from our hunt in 28. 6 guys in camp. Hunted 3 days and saw 11 moose. 5 bulls 5 cows and one calf. The cow and calf we saw was on the friday. One day early. What we did see was gut piles and lots of them. Very evident from before gun season. What ever solution the powers that be come up with it has absolutely involve everyone. Natives and non natives. The time and need for unregulated hunting in ontario is long since past in my opinion. There are still enough moose out there to turn this thing around but not for long....

Couldn't agree more.

However none of our politicians will touch the FN unregulated hunting issues because they will be accused of discrimination & trying to take away their rights. Very sad indeed!

Yup. Political suicide. Sad case for sure. But thats the past. Its really quite simple.....its almost 2020....if you are going to hunt buy a license and enter the draw...FN or not!!!!!! Also lets look at how other provinces and countries manage their moose. The moose hunt is the biggest hunt we have in ontario i my opinion and we are ruining it at an alarming rate.

Maybe yes-maybe not.
I think a clever politician would be able to pull this off-with relative majority, it could be done.

I think the 2 biggest hurdles are :
1,No real political benefit for any of them to pick up this fight(what would they accomplish for themselves with this fights, other then a major headache?)this aspect is not quiet clear-so WHY would they do it?Moose hunters are a marginal group to change outcomes in elections-They would need to see good benefits for them before doing this.
2,Our judicial system proved few time in the past that all the political will-fight may be wiped out by a Supreme Court decision............this is where first the things should change ,maybe.

Pick a major fight-to loose it ...with no real major political benefit!!!!!

The way i think this will play out is-most of the moose WILL BE wiped out(soon)in Ontario,perhaps else too.Then the politicians will be forced to do something to protect the remainder of the moose ,and they will have some good excuse then, to pick the fight.
They will be then the good boys to protect the diminishing specie.....in this,once major Moose Powerhouse.

Alas all this will be too little -too late.With absolute no benefit to anyone.

Us ,moose hunters need to prepare for "rainy days".
