I am glad that you are supporting me as a semi-auto owner but I,am pretty flexible and would have no problems changing over to a bolt action especially if it would give some comfort to my fellow Canadians.

I would say in Canadian history petitions do not really get very far so will probably agree with you. However if I were Minister Blair I would simply thank the authors of the petition for their support in highlighting that this petition is from a fringe element of licensed gun owners
and both the Liberals,NDP and Green party could come out and say this poor showing in the petition gives them the mandate to continued with their reforms on behalf of the other 2 million. I think its called political spin. You got to be careful with these petitions.

Mind you after reading the above I kinda liked this one LOL
This is nothing new. In 1914, 350,000 American children signed a petition asking for the First World War to stop. Imperial Germany didn’t listen, but they were more receptive four years later when two million Americans arrived to press the issue with guns.
Not just younger hunters.
There's a reason why hunters choose bolt action.
1. More calibers.
2. They go bang every time.
3. More accurate.
Now having said that, I shoot a bolt gun for the main reason, it's what I started shooting with years ago, (Steven's 58 shotgun).
The advantage is that no matter how fast you can cycle a bolt gun, you're still going to make your 1st shot count over those who might be inclined to "spray and pray".
What comfort is there for people when licensed owners give up there guns, while the unlicensed gangsters shoot on? None of the shootings and killing in the last week in Toronto were licensed gun owners. Seems less comforting knowing there more bad guys with gun and less good people with guns.
I do not think there are more bad guys with guns than good guys simply because the bad guys appear to be eliminating their own numbers on a daily basis.I kinda take some comfort in this.
Even with the bad guys killing each other the good guys still have way... more guns.
Well I shoot a semi auto because its the gun I started with years ago.My mentor told me to buy a 30.06 because of the versatility of the rifle.
I was also hunting deer over hounds and kinda followed what most guys had in camp,I didn,t even scope it for years. But I was never a spray and pray guy and have dropped all my deer over the years with one single shot on almost all years,so a transition to a bolt would be easy.
I think you misunderstand where I take the comfort its from sentences like this in stats can
"Just over half (51%) of adult homicide victims had a Canadian criminal record. Of the 27 youth victims aged 12 to 17 years, 11% had a youth record."Over half were killed by firearms from what I see in the stats.
So back to my original contention the gang bangers and criminal element are doing pretty good at eliminating themselves.
Gilroy really needs to learn how to quote a post and reply without making it all into one
