A treaty is a contract, signed by both the Bands and the Canadian government. One side cannot break a contract just because they want to. Try that with any other lawful agreement. They were given those contracts in exchange for land. Simple really, if we don't want to uphold the treaty, then give them back the land. Can't have it both ways. The way it stands now ,if the government won't give them the land, then we will pay them billions a year till we do. If the Bands would rather have the land than the money, what can you do , they have a legally binding contract.
