Covid 2nd Wave....fact or fiction

Where are you going to put all these beds? The halls in our brand spankin new hospital complex are already full. Can't put new beds in portables because there's no place to put the portables. The new parking lot is already too small for cars and people are being bussed from the old hospital site. And life goes on with everyday heart attack patients, strokes, home and vehicle mishaps , diabetes patients, you name it. And lets not forget the dopers who now take up doctors time more than they ever did.
So, its not an easy fix. We can criticize governments and the health care system all day long but I've yet to hear anyone come up with a realistic and practical solution.

Well China built a hospital in 2 weeks.

Even the USA saw cases in January as we did. Hundreds of temporary hospital covid patients centers were built to to keep the pressure off the hospital's . By the beginning of April they had 15 thousand beds for covid patients .

We have nothing. Our health care system is at the same capacity as the USA. We have no room we are running out of capacity and we only have 400 hospitalized.

The USA are seeing almost 200 thousand cases a day yet there system still has a little bit more room. . The hospitals in both the USA and Ontario are at 90 % capacity

They prepared Trump prepared. They will build what they need again just like in March and April and through the summer.

We did nothing Trudeau did nothing. Our health care system is still running at pre covid times almost a year into a pandemic . Pathetic [emoji107]

They could of done something but did nothing. It's not up to us to decide what to do ,our great leader is supposed to do that. They have done nothing.

We were supposed to be prepared for the second wave.

Even Ottawa as a "red Zone' has not set up any overflow capacity to handle a 'surge'. With all the empty building around they could have easily set up a 50 bed temporary facility to take the strain...

Maybe they know it's not required, contrary to what the media and politicians are saying. There are 1,200 beds in Ottawa Hospitals and they have only x60 'Covid' specific patients...which are only there because they have underlying conditions being exacerbated by the virus.

There have been a total of 92,761 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ontario reported to date (Jan to Nov 2020)


There have been 3, 332 deaths (35% over 60 yrs of age) ...which is only 4% of those that have got the virus.

So with Ontario’s population of 15 million :

20,000 cases of Covid represents .13% of the pollution …..YES...ONLY 'point' .13% of people of Ontario have been infected with this VIRUS !!!

The death rate….is only .02% of the population.

While sad for the people who have been sick and for those that have died, it’s hardly a ‘pandemic’ that has the ability to wipe out our society.....the measure to control the virus have done far more damage to our society .

So how would the people of Canada react if the all governments both federal and provincial, said what you are saying..... Not a big a deal. Only 0.02 of our residents will die. Open up all businesses, because the steps we are taking to contain covid are futile. Let the bodies fall where they may...... All this while most of the worlds responsible governments are putting their citizens into a way more restrictive and severe lockdown. Some places have a curfew , and when you are found outside , you go directly to jail. Some people are still saying that our government was not doing enough at the beginning, even though everyone knew it was coming here anyway. There was no way to keep it from coming to North America. Do you want Canada to be the only country in the world to go a different route? Ya that will be good, we can say we lost 10,000 to covid, but we only lost X number to suicide. Do you think that the families that lose a member to covid will be content in the knowledge ,that they lost their family member, so someone else would not commit suicide?

Many countries have already realized that you can't stop it and are learning to manage it. Keeping schools and business open and requesting personal precautions with social distancing etc. Let nature takes it course and allow societies to build up their own immunity.

The best way to combat (control) this, without a vaccine, is to allow low risk people to get sick and build up a herd immunity. Initial high deaths of people with immunocompromised systems skewed the numbers of how deadly the virus really is. In a healthy population it's far far less less than 1%...

Manage? Are you following the news overseas? In the past weeks, Italy , Spain, France, Germany, United Kingdom, Poland, plus many more, have all instituted, MORE restrictive measures than Canada has ever had. That is how those governments are 'managing' covid.

But it's been proven that approach is not working..ie..2nd wave, 3rd wav etc etc..if you don't have immunity, it will keep coming back...

Those countries with the highest 'case' rates will in the end be better off. More of their populations will have immunity. Trying to stop infections it is counter productive and at a huge socio-economic impact.

Dead citizens don't vote.

What I find interesting is why our governments telling us we must wear a mask to stop the spread. People even on here claiming people not wearing masks are the problem.
If people not wearing masks are the problem, than why is it now that everyone is masked up the numbers are increasing like we never had happen back months ago when nobody wore masks.
If masks are whats going to get us back to normal, why the hell are we going back into shutdowns, why are the numbers at record levels by the day?
