So, the mini14 was used 31 years ago in a mass shooting by a mad man. It hasn't been used in another one and I would bet it has been used infrequently since then in any other murders. So why are we banning it?

I dont disagree with you at all but unfortunately think about all the taxes the government collects on those products that they would loose way to much compared to the 13% on a rifle ppl work hard to buy, maintain, use properly. But some idiot in charge can now say you cant... am I the only one that thinks a second list will come out soon with another bunch that weren't on that list. And then followed by Marshall law??? Or am I the crazy one to think the control coming our way from all this is gonna get worse before better?

I've been listening to people cry that sad tale of woe for over 30 years. Still have the guns I want to have and fully expect to continue owning them. This "thin edge of the wedge" argument was BS then and it is BS now. If you want to own guns and shoot there are still more options available to you than not.

The issue is the further erosion of freedoms and greater over reach of the government. Start with low hanging fruit and continue to escalate. Granted, i'm libertarian in my thinking and don't want to give up individual liberties for whatever is currently required for the apparent greater good.

Yep so true got all my guns from the very first one over 40 years ago,mind you I,am just a hunter of big and small game,had to carry a handgun as part of my employment,but never felt the need or saw the much purpose in assault style firearms.

With regards to alcohol and tobacco, I'd be curious to see the overall tax revenue collected vs required expenditures, i.e healthcare, judicial, policing, etc.

What real freedoms do we really have,we get licenses for just about everything,are now told where to go and how to line up for even food.
The powers that be want a cashless society,which we will probably all have to comply with,we have airlines and booking places that will not refund money even although they do not provide the service.Very little freedom and even less in the U.S.A.

That's a great attitude, because when they ban your pick of gun, nobody will give a s#*t about you either. You'll have hung yourself out to dry.

My "pick of gun(s)" remains in wide circulation in the UK, New Zealand, Australia and much of the rest of the world including Canada. They aren't going anywhere other than hunting or to the range. If yours are going to the smelter then you picked the wrong guns.
