Yep, absolutely. I've taken grief for my tendency to speak plainly. At different times I've sarcastically referred to uneducated gutter rats and gang bangers constantly outwitting highly educated cops and intelligence officers. Other times have said things like " I've known many a rocket scientist that were dumb as stumps". Have worked with more than a few, One of the smartest, most highly educated people I've ever worked with and this guy that was pure genius with numbers and math. . Couldn't tie his shoe laces without help on other things. Then too, those with high intelligence often display social awkwardness, and what appears to be pure lack of any kind of intelligence in other area's. At it's simplest think rain man and those on the autistic spectrum. That's all beside the point, other than to agree book smarts, does not equate to intelligence.Quote:
I'm close with a few others who are high profile medical people, one of the others joining the game tonight is a nephrologist, another is very high up in management our local hospital. I would classify only one of these people as "smart" beyond "book smart". The others are just as easily hoodwinked as anyone else.
On many "economic" arguments I've also often said, sit 4 economist at a table. Give them a scenario and data. You'll get 6 different answers. And that is the truth. But when they "all" say the same and similar things. You know when to pay attention.
This is one of those times
