Frank Zappa!!
I talked to buddy again and he confirmed that the pisser police were out on White Lake but he couldn't say 100% that they actually charged anyone or if it was just warnings. For sure though they had db meters and were checking and charging sled owners for too loud of an exhaust. Another money grab.
Cheers

It may seem like a money grab to some, but we have a neighbour with a "custom tuned exhaust". He is no longer welcome around our house. The factory goes to great lengths to build an efficient exhaust system that will give the most horsepower with a sound level that will not damage your ears any more than necessary. Then some clown changes it for one that "sounds better". They are no better than someone who cranks up their ghetto blaster in a busy campsite at 10pm.
I hear you Pat. There will always be some that go too far for sure. Specially if he's revving it up around homes. But it's not about sounding better so much as it is about performance for the guys that install them. They want to be faster than a stock machine. And from what I understand the mnr were going around and getting guys to start up their sleds so they could take readings and lay fines. That is a money grab.
Cheers
Could they actually make you start up the machine?? What if you told them NO? I am not aware of any law that says I must start up my machine for any Police or MNR etc. The MNR can search under the wildlife act. But I don't believe anyone can make you start up your machine.
We have a 200' hill just across the lake from our cottage. I can hear them talking thats how close they are. Some guy with a modified exhaust climbs that hill all day in the winter. That gets really tiring very quickly. In the summer he has a dirt bike and does the same thing. Glad to hear the cops checking excessive noise. Crownland is not the wild west.
I would just tell them that I'm impaired and not putting the key in the machine so you can charge me with impaired driving or care and control. don't think they can force you to start a machine.............but stranger things have happened in the great white north.
