In my book a bear that is accustomed to human dwellings and city infrastructure like roads and sidewalks need to be dispatched asap, as they have lost their fear of humans which as we all know is a very dangerous thing and cannot be trusted. The poor little guy was probably lovin the garbage and lack of competition for food, and said to him self I'm going stay here for good . ... Wrong decision, but we can only blame ourselves.. (No spring bear hunt)
Saw the news feed tonight where a crowd of onlookers were boo-ing the police as they brought "the body" out of the backyard. Somebody said it earlier in this thread - some people seem to put a higher value on animal life than human life these days. Wonder what the "boo" crowd would have to say if that was somebody's kid they wheeled out of the yard.
Well, in late breaking news, there has been another bear sighting in Barrhaven (just soutwest of Ottawa). This should be interesting. In the past, the National Capital Commission gets involved and starts finger pointing at MNRF and the police. Same thing happens when a moose shows up or more recently a coyote.

For the other people asking why the ERU team needed to be called. They are the ones that use firearms everyday and as you can see from the videos they had almost 5 houses around him to make sure nothing when wrong.
Where are you going to relocate a bear? Next to a small town or village up north so they can deal with it?
I think it has been 2 years now since the MNR said they were not going to help with bears anymore. Guess what, they do not have the funding to send someone out for these kind of things anymore.
topher when was the last time you have seen a live trap sitting at the Aurora MNR office?
Since it looked like the MNR took the bear, I would only assume the meat was donated to a shelter or somewhere in need.
People why are we not using this to help bring back the spring bear hunt? Naw lets just make fun of each other on here and show non hunters what we are really like.
