My dad purchased my first shot gun that year, would have been 88 or 89, without a FAC. I was able to possess the gun, but not purchase it. But then they changed the law and said you needed an FAC to possess a firearm. In the pursuit of the FAC, we were also required to do a special gun safety course. The ministry has a record of my test, that I've already confirmed. If you did the course, they should have a record of it. I didn't have to show them anything other than provide my name and birth date.
