No I think its a good idea, maybe make it a law, that all landowners, must put their phone number against the no trespassing signs. This will definitely make it easier for me to ask about hunting.... :silly:
This makes no senses at all.
He has the property gated and posted as no trespassing. Why would he leave contact info? He never once mentioned wanting people to ask permisssion to access his property he wants to keep them out period. If you make it more difficult for people they will not call....these people ignored the gate and the signs but they are going to stop and call to ask permission? Give your head a shake! It is not his responsibility to make his private property easily accessible to random people that want access. He had it posted, they should stay out. If he wanted people walking around on his property he probably wouldnt have signs or a gate or be posting on the internet asking if people recognize the trespassers he rightly doesnt want on his land.
A no trespassing sign is as crystal clear as it gets. It usually means you dont want to be disturbed whether in person or on your property. Your idea that landowners should be leaving personal information so that strangers can contact them to ask if they can go on their property that is clearly posted that they dont want anyone on it is ridiculous. No trespassing means no trespassing it doesnt mean bug the owner at home or over the phone it means stay out! Im sure if the owner was open to sharing the property it would be posted no trespassing without permission or something along those lines. Again the op never complained about people not asking permission or wanting people to call or knock on his door to ask permission he wants them to stay off his land and that should be respected without question.
Yes signs have my name, phone and email. Been up for years. Still in very good shape. Never a call or email received. I have connected with all the adjacent land owners - say 1km in every direction (all vacant land - no residents for miles). Neighbours have permission to stroll through, but they rarely if ever do.
Good for you, for having no fear of others knowing the phone # of who owns the property, and giving permission for neighbors to walk through, they will now be an asset to watch over your land. Guess you were not receiving calls from Tom Dick or Harry, as per post 42.
Enlisting the help of neighbors to keep an eye on the property is always the best common sense approach, especially, asking them to call the police when they see or hear people on the property that the owner has indicated shouldn't be there. It will also be necessary to tell the police that there's on-going issues. They can't help if they don't know about it.
These are adults in the trailcam photos who walked right by no tresspassing signs. Pretty clear what their ethics and mentality are. If genuinely interested in finding out who land owners are it takes some effort and legwork but is doable. I would provide the photos to local LEO as evidence and officially register a complaint and ask for their assistance. I don't expect them to actually help but if somehow you caught the trespassers yourself you have a better case..
Our signs have the name of the camp on it. Maybe that's why the sign on our gate has been shot up the last 2 years.
