I will start in 10 days for Revolution for fleas, mites and internal parasites, and probably just do a pet store topical permethrin for the adult acaricide this weekend. Worked well last year. First tick spotted at the vet's was 20 km from me, but they're coming.
We have four dogs now, and three need a vet visit before they can get Revolution. I am waiting 10 days to finish getting one down below the package weight cutoff! He's so close, and the plan is to take another 1.5 lbs off after that.
I asked about Seresto, but reading now, I see that is still US only. Amazon could be my friend there. I guess one dog could be a guinea pig this season.
fyi : revolution doesn't stop /kill deer ticks- the ones that cause lyme disease.
Is it just me or are the ticks worse this Spring? Just had my husband pull another engorged one out of my head. :whacked:
Ya I'm seeing a lot around this year, maybe it's due to the milder winter we had.
I have not seen any yet this year, but the mild winter should mean more ticks survived.
Also, I guess I was mistaken about our ticks, we had four dogs confirmed infected with B. burgdorferi in the area last year. Looks like we are no longer outside the range of Ixodes scapularis; it was only a matter of time anyway, the raccoons finally made it up here a decade or so ago, too.
I couldn't order Seresto off Amazon to a Canadian address but got it on ebay no problem. 2 collars on the way for $80. Not bad for 8 months protection for both dogs.
Now that ticks are affecting the center of the universe you can expect some money poured into treatment and prevention of ticks for the flip flop crowd.
