My cottage JB is on an island, as long as the water-ice is able to get a boat through, I am there , so at least 8 months of the year I live further north than you. Blinds that are left to rot ARE garbage, that is left, ( on PUBLIC land), by a few to the detriment of the many. If it is not allowed for any other group , why duck hunters?
As I said Dyth, wasn't disagreeing.
There are people from all walks who pollute, or who let their docks fall apart, or abuse this or that.And that includes the "first come/first serve" and people who set Dekes up Friday morning and expect it to be theirs Sat or all weekend. Or Moose hunters who set up weeks in advance, or those who block logging roads and on and on and on.

The points stand though.Im thinking the guy that built that blind that so offends you, leaves a smaller footprint and impact than you (yes you literally) do. Now multiply you by tens of thousands, and all their toys and all their pollution and all their phosphates and more.
Quite honestly I would much rather look out on the shore I do with its decrepit blinds ( 3 of them). Most are buried in cattails so you can't even see them. Than whats further down the Lake........including the constant noise, the crotch rockets zipping around and more.

Anyone but a duck hunter, who went out to a public area, be it a marsh, pond, field, lake, park, etc. and built a structure, used it for a month and then left it sitting there, I think would be in contravention of a number of laws. Why should water fowlers get a pass?
Don't know, don't have answers. Why should be allowed to build a doc, its not your lake.
Can only tell you, that you shouldn't throw stones at glass houses, especially when you live in the GTA and are a weekend warrior who like tens of thousands of others.......Have a larger footprint, have more impact than that blind that so offends you. And as for views, well Im thinking there are a ton of people who hate what city folk are doing to the landscape. ;)

Same Sambo, a little organization ( if we want to call it that ) and more goes a long ways. Depending on where your hunting it's nuts out there. We all know there are people who start shooting long before first legal. I've been on the water waiting for sunrise when the fog was so thick we couldn't even see our dekes and we could hear shots. Then out of nowhere, two guys in a canoe are in amongst our dekes.
Personally I avoid it. If I didn't go Grouse hunting this past weekend, I might have gone out, but most likely not until the afternoon.
doubtful this debate will ever really be resolved. And each openers the craziness will continue, guys will come home and tell friends it was raining pellets around them, or tell friends about the idiots shooting 40 minutes before first legal, and words with others who setup Friday morning, or set up in the dark too close and on and on.

Jben however does make a pretty good point, if the blinds which no one owns have to go, then so does the docks, which are attached to a shoreline that no one owns either......

I agree. You could put signs everywhere. First come first serve. If someone is there keep moving. Be respectable to other hunters. But myself a sign is pointless.
